I'm in the market for a truck gun. It will be secured at all times but being what it is could walk away. Because of this I am leaning towards a C&R pistol due to price. The ones I am familiar with are:

Mak: decent caliber, reliable, no idea cost or availability?

CZ-52: Inexpensive, good penetration, no idea on the quality of the ammo for SD?

CZ-82: reliable, decent caliber,a bit more pricey

Star: good caliber, similar to 1911 which I prefer, no idea cost or availability?

Cheapo 1911: reliability concerns, cost and availabilty? Even the RIAs are pricier than I'd like to have sitting around

A few current production pistols such as the P11 sneak in the running but they are usually on the upper ends of the price scale and the P11 is much smaller than need be. This will not be a carry piece so a fullsize would be prefered.

Opinions to feel in the blanks are welcomed and encouraged. Thanks guys and gals

Looking at the CDNN catalog which visited my mailbox today, there's a Hungarian PA63 in 9x18 (Makarov caliber - slightly more potent than .380, less than 9mm Luger). It's a small, but not tiny 7+1 SA/DA design based on the Walther PP. $119 in VG to LNIB condition. Elegant, functional pistol for the price. I'll be ordering one tomorrow for sure.

What ever it is it has to be 100% reliable. That is why a modern gun is better for SD than a 50+ year old pistol which might break, or not function when needed. I should mention I have a CZ-82 and 52, and would not use either in SD unless that is all I had.
