Below are a few pictures of a bayonet my dad got from my grandfather. I'm sure it isn' particularly valuable, but I'm curious as to what it is (rifle it belongs to, country of origin, date of manufature, etc.). Any help you can provide is appreciated.
In case the pictures aren't clear, both the hilt and the sheath (sorry if I'm using the wrong terms) say 9/I.3 No 426. The base of the blade (next to the hilt) has a crown and 562. The lip of the sheath also says 562. The other side of the blade has another, slightly different crown with a "C" beneath it.
Sorry for the bad pictures, I didn't even take the time to wipe off the oil.
Of course, knowing my grandfather it could be some cheap piece of junk , but I figured I'd ask folks who know more than I do.
Thanks!
