:)Below are a few pictures of a bayonet my dad got from my grandfather. I'm sure it isn' particularly valuable, but I'm curious as to what it is (rifle it belongs to, country of origin, date of manufature, etc.). Any help you can provide is appreciated.

In case the pictures aren't clear, both the hilt and the sheath (sorry if I'm using the wrong terms) say 9/I.3 No 426. The base of the blade (next to the hilt) has a crown and 562. The lip of the sheath also says 562. The other side of the blade has another, slightly different crown with a "C" beneath it.

Sorry for the bad pictures, I didn't even take the time to wipe off the oil.

Of course, knowing my grandfather it could be some cheap piece of junk , but I figured I'd ask folks who know more than I do.

Thanks!

Swedish m96 or M-41 and such.

Nice bolt action military rifles had to have a decent bayonet for when things got up close and personal. This is what the Swedes went with for the closing years of the 1800's until after WWII. With a leather frog and the metal sheath they are on the auction sites around $50 or so.

Neat find.

It will fit the M96 and M38 Swedish Mausers as well as the AG 42B Ljungman rifle. The handle is hollow to allow it to be fixed without having to remove the cleaning rod from the stock.

The C-crown marking indicates it was made in the Carl Gustafs factory. The 9/I.3 marking is a unit marking. I is infantry. Not exactly sure what the 562 number stamped on the blade is, but the two 426's likely are the rack # of the rifle it was intended for.
