Good morning ladies and gentlemen. I have recently acquired some be-86 and all I have for projectiles currently are rn 147gr fmj. I can’t seem to find any data, could someone suggest a starting load.

thank you.

Alliant has one 9mm 147grn load listed online, for a 147grn FP bullet.... 4.7grn BE-86 at 1.08" (max load.) You would have to work up to that and adjust your seating depth (FMJ vs FP.) I'll have to check my other data upstairs, but that should give you a reasonable starting point.

Thank you. My beretta like 1.13 oal I wasn’t sure how much to adjust for the different profile.

Due to the tiny under bullet volume. If I can find a good load in the published range I stay there. You might eek out .1 grains more for your length but I don't see any value in trying.

I’m only looking to make just above minor power factor. All my loads are middle of published data. That seems to get me where I want to be. When I get a lab radar I might do some testing.

Speer has data, too...

For their 147grn GoldDot and their 147grn TMJ FN...

4.5grn start, 5.1grn Max, at 1.130" for both. Again, you would have to work with your seating depth because of the differences in bullets.

ETA: Note the difference in seating depth and max load between the Alliant and Speer data. Only way Speer can max at 5.1grn is likely because of the longer OAL.

Looking through my shooter notes... I actually have data for BE-86 and the Berrys 147grn PRN bullet...

4.8grn @ 1.145" gave me 870fps out of my 3.6" Kahr,

4.9grn gave me 920fps out of my Kahr, and 1000fps out of a Taurus PT-92.

Let us know how it pans out... so I can see how valid my data is. BE-86 was an odd powder for me... I got some strange results with it in both 9mm and .45 Colt.
