Just wondering why I feel such animosity towards new members(such as myself) trying to legitimately seek info to become not only a "legal",but responsible registered & licensed gun owner,+ frequent range shooter. I am an American Citizen,I have worked for the same company for 25+ yrs., & I have just recently decided to go back to the range. Please forgive me for feeling that I am treated as a "ROOKIE", or "NOVICE", or "STUPID" towards this forum.
I have several posts, & have recieved many helpful responses, for which I
am very greatful!!!!!
Please forgive me for being a novice-but better a novice seeking advice, than a thug seeking a novice!

It is our duty as shooters to help introduce people to the sport and educate them in a friendly and respectful manner.

There are some "stalkers" and "egotistical" members here who think they know it all and feel they have to correct everything you post. Some also just love to argue and and pick fights on the forum.

A-holes are all around us but most of the people on this forum are decent and nice people who genuinely want to help. The moderators also do a pretty good job (sometimes too good) of shutting down aggressive behavior.

I for one welcome you to this forum and will be glad to help you in any way I can.

I also agree we should be nice to everyone unless they are trying to do harm to out country or loved ones. I think we could all learn some humility now and then.

Welcome!

Holy Mackerel

I am terribly sorry, I got a bit swept away w/my emotions.I have nothing but positive response from this forum, yet I do still feel that as a newcomer, rookie,or whatever the proper terminology may be, some responses seem to be a bit "DOWN THE NOSE". I just want to do the Right Thing,The Proper Thing,The Legal Thing.& Long before I ever decided to post my opinion on this forum, I took care of each,& every one of those concerns.
I am just trying to Learn about something,& looking to the best forum that I could find.
Thank You,

MCM

It's the internet so it's natural that you get all kinds of people, including the fearless internet warriors that are 6-05 and 280 pounds of muscle online but won't even look at you in the face in person when they're 5-05 and 105 pounds soaking wet.

Glad you're seeking out info and just remember to distill everything you hear as the internet gives you unfiltered advice for the most part. Find out what works for you and also make sure you read up on factory websites and publications.

Little guys huh? Personally, I'm 8'13", 450lbs of pure energy, can run the 100m in just under 15 minutes(100m=100 miles). I have 6 girlfriends and 4 wives, 8 are professional dancers and the other 2 used to be with Chuck Norris, until I beat him down(don't kill me Chuck).

Yeah, the internet...What a waste of creativity.

Well, MCM, start out with a little background information.
Where are you that there is a need to become a registered and licensed gun owner?
Not all jurisdictions are so repressive. If yours is, you will need expert and experienced local advice. I can tell you what I think about a gun but I don't know what kind of government hoops you might have to jump through if you live in a different jurisdiction. All I have to comply with are the federal government's requirements, my state and city being rather backward that way.

See, that's where you are wrong, you Earthlings and your physical forms. I have no mass (at least not in terms of something you would understand with that primitive brain)as I am a being of pure energy.

Therefore, I travel at 186,000 m/s and can circle the Earth 7 times a second. Your running times are insignificant.

As for reproduction, I have 2,000 kids by 4,000 wives, per dimension.

So... what was your question again?

The internet is a very impersonal place. Please don't take it personal. It's just like everyday life. Some people you meet are very nice and helpful. Some aren't. There are no dumb questions.

There you go. See, we just want to help and spread the word.

Now MCM, it's time for you to go out and introduce shooting to all you can and support the 2nd amendment.

Happy New Year Everyone!

Be nice to all!!!!!!!!!!!!

:confused: I took the time to review all of your posts and, for the life of me, I could not find a single instance where any member was anything but kind, respectful and helpful to you. If there was such an "infraction", please be more specific. This is the internet and people sometimes have pretty strong feelings about a particlar issue and often times aren't afraid to express themselves, shall we say, bluntly.

In any event, welcome to The High Road!

For me the biggest gripe I have with new members of a forum is they don't bother to use the search function. VERY good chance thier questions are all out there in the forum, answered over and over a few times. Just gotta do the work yourself rather than ask, sit back and have everyone repeat previous answeres they've given time and time again.
Funny also how ppl just have such important questions to get answers to yet they rely on complete strangers for the answers.

I still can't figure out how to get the search function to work well.

And yes, there is some animosity towards new members, especially accusations of trolling. Don't let it get to you.

Didn't really know there was any animosity.
One thing I'd suggest for new guys is that they become very well acquainted with the search function. It can take a little practice but more often than not, within two or three searches you'll have some answers.
It seems like every other day we get a "which semi-auto .308 is best?" or something of that nature. No offense guys, but most of these questions have been gone over about a hundred times.
I like talking guns as much as the next guy but it does get a little redundant when we talk about the same thing every other day.

One place where the search option may not be of much help - reloading.
I have run into all kinds of new problems during the course of my reloading career...:cuss:

I started shooting in 1960 something. Almost every time I go to the range, to this day someone has advice or corrections. To this day many are good. Most are hurried and inconclusive. Just take each with a grain of salt and enjoy.

Work on it.;)

Welcom MCM-This is an excellent forum. For myself I probably spend more time reading than posting. Just keep an open mind & keep your BS filter on.
The search function on this site is sometimes difficult to use and yes we do have many topics that are constantly repeated. But this site is a valuable trove of information.

one of the fatal flaws with these discussion forums is that your status is a measurement of how much you talk, not how much you know, experienced, or listen.

i stopped visiting this forum for a few months, after a pissing match with a moderator, where i feel he got belligerent with me over my opinion and questions, since I had questioned his technical knowledge.

try to ignore the antagonists.

i don't understand why everyone gets their panties in a wad about new members not knowing and using search features. if we all used search features properly, every time, there be virtually no discussion.

you think this is bad,zip over to some of the "Military Rifle" sites and let the "Mauser Snobs" chew on you a while. jwr
