Yep! Works pretty good. Used buffalo fat as well. It works but goes rancid pretty fast. Then the smell sort of makes you think twice about it being such a good idea. When shooting a lot, I generally usually use a "spit patch." I stick a patch in my mouth, measure and pore the powder, take the patch and set the RB, then ram it home, cap/prime then shoot. Start over. That habit is hard to break when using it regularly. I use pre lubed patches when hunting. Once, I grabbed a buffalo fat patch and automatically stuck in in my mouth Didn't take long to get the idea I made a mistake.
I really like the idea of using the same thing that the frontiersman used, and it works great. But I buy mine already made up. October Country Muzzleloading labels it Bumblin Bear Grease.
