Beat up and trashed 90 year old rifle at a police auction: $12.50.

Replacement parts and cost to refinish wood and metal at home: $11.

Shooting a 1/2" group with the rebuilt little rifle: priceless.

Fun! Is it a Favorite or Little Scout?

Grandpa used to shoot rabbits in Grandma's garden with a Stevens, from the second floor window at the top of the stairs. Brings back good memories.

Looks like you did a nice job on the rifle. A little bit of a bygone era.

It is a Lil' Scout 14 & 1/2 model.

Bought it in 1987 in California (I had an FFL at the time).

Needed a new breech block and that took years to find but was only $5 from a parts dealer at a show when I did locate it.

I refinished the wood and metal (polished and cold blued) and installed the sights as the originals were missing.

I was stunned at how well it shoots.

Here's a 5/8" group after raising the point of aim. Always puts 2 touching with a flier out a bit. Probably my fault.
