I got to watch this match from a nice vantage point. On Friday, Team Blackfork won the 50-shot bullseye four man team competition and then won the Infantry Trophy. I shot a 485 and had two team members shoot better. In Infantry Trophy we shot a score that if doubled, (we were shooting 3-man teams and the National Matches shoot 6-man teams) would have won the National Trophy. We shot a 709. Winning score last year at Camp Perry was in the 1300s.

Saturday I hung around until the end finishing with the Bronze Regional Medal. Should have shot better but glad to have that medal. 777X19. Winner shot 781. It was close until I shot badly in the two strings at 300 rapid and dropped six points.

Sunday during the CMP EIC/LEG match I shot pretty well all day, 98X5 standing, (with lots of follow-through), 100X4 sitting, 100X5 at 300 prone and then 192X6 at 600. Should have shot better but 490X20 took the gold medal. I'm already distinguished so that wasn't a factor. That score is my personal best across the course on a full 600 yard range. Nice time to shoot it.

Last year I won that regional and was third in the LEG match.

All with my evil little black AR15. It's early in the season but shooting well all weekend probably locks me into a shooting slot on the Texas Team for the National Matches at Camp Perry. I keep wondering which year will be the year that the wheels fall off as I get too damn old to do this. Looks like I'm going to get to shoot this year, god willing.

Nice crowd, but we needed more every day. Match has been bigger in the past. Weather perfect, no rain, little heat, little wind.

Next up: The really big show at Panola County Gun Club and the NRA Regional the end of April.

Good shooting there! Wish I started highpower earlier, I'm pushing 50 and fighting a losing battle with my eyes. My scores are just getting worse and worse, not improving at all. Been tempted to go M1 just to get the longer sight radius!

Dont despair Hagar

Hagar: Nothing is impossible. Eyes are just one of the things that others before you have overcome. Check out Knobloch shooting glasses on the Champions Choice website and then go to Bob Jones website, get Bob's number and call him up to get the proper rear site lens insert. Put your Rx in the Knoblochs and have Bob add or take off about .5 to focus up your front site. Trust me, it works only if you do this, no more excuses.

Blackfork: Good shooting !
