Started today with 4-man (Presidents 100 30-round match) team competition. Then we shot Infantry Trophy. Eight teams in IT, more than that in Bullseye.

Perfect weather and no wind. The NRA Regional 80 shot individual match is tomorrow and the CMP/EIC LEG match on Sunday, followed by a Pistol EIC LEG match.

Two four man teams and two coaches from OK came down. We are at Range Capacity for the regional tomorrow. Probably will give five legs on Sunday in the EIC match. Lots of rifle shooting.

Team Blackfork won the 4-man today (1157X 33, I think), by one point, and then we won the Infantry Trophy with a 663 and a three point lead over the next team. 4-man was 10 rounds offhand at 200, 10 rounds prone rapid at 300 and 10 rounds slow fire at 600 for four shooters. Infantry Trophy was 64 rounds per man starting at 600, then 500, then 300 at E-silhouettes exposed for 50 seconds. Three shooters and four targets. Bonus points for hitting each target at least six times. You have to have a fire plan. We got all the bonuses for squaring the targets plus only had about five or six misses total.

The AR got a workout.

Hope to shoot well through the rest of the weekend. Cleaning gun and reloading mags now.

Stop by the pistol range and say hi on Sunday. Two of us will be there from Wichita Falls/Graham area for the Leg Match. Any idea on how many pistol shooters there will be?

Pistol LEG

This pistol EIC match last year was the biggest held in Texas in quite a while. I was first leather last year. We just needed one more shooter.

I'll be shooting in the pistol leg. I bet we give three legs at least. Hoping for more. I've asked this question before but haven't gotten an answer. If i remember to ask tomorrow I will post the number. Rick Crawford, the real match director, was gone today but will be there tomorrow.

Thanks. I'll be heading out tomorrow around noon, so I'll miss your post on how many shooters. Hopefully we'll have at least 36 so they can give out four legs this year. See you on Sunday.

27 pistol shooters,

Only one distinguished, so three LEGs given for the 26 non-distinguished shooters. You two guys scores held up for first and second. I'm third, got beat by two Xs.

Rol Coggins LEGed out in the rifle match. He got his first rifle points with a Garand in 1986. Just turned 60 this year. Nice moment for the Texas and regional shooters as he is well known and regarded. Dr Wood was first overall, 488, (already dist), I was second by a point at 487. Dr. Jeff Lin was third and got points.

Range was was full today, just a couple short of capacity. Yesterday was full, -64. We just needed more at the pistol match. Be nice to give four pistol LEGs.

Just takes one shot or at most two to win or lose a match. Team Blackfork won by ONE point on Friday in the four-man, won by three points in Infantry Trophy which equals one hit at 500 (worth three points) or one hit at 600 (worth four points) to win. I was fourth Saturday by one point with more Xs than third place. Three points would have gotten me the silver medal. Shoot a couple of eights offhand at the 200 yardline in the morning or miss the wind in the afternoon at 600 and you are out of the standings.

Very tricky wind today at 600 on the last relay. A cloud covered the targets and range just as our 20 shots in 20 minutes string started. I waited six minutes for it to pass before I cranked it up. Just a drift of mirage in the spotting scope but it was worth one MOA when it ran to the left and 1/2 MOA when it ran right. When it switched you could move the sights 1 1/2 MOA to stay in the same place.

I was firing right down the middle of the range, target 9 of 16.

Always fun to shoot. My rifles and ammo ran flawlessly all weekend. Only problem was a missing primer today at 600. I borrowed a pistol and ammo for the pistol LEG. Going to have to finally buy one, I guess.
