one of thr thingss i find so great about revolvers is their simplicity. revolvers have changed in form over the years, but the general principle hasnt changed, and the revolver has continued to be a trusted and relied upon firearm since the dag firearms could first be somewhat trusted. ive owned a few semi-automatic handguns, and fired quite a few more, and with most of them ive had no reason to believe i was firing something that was unreliable. Ive fired semi autos that were incredibly easy to point and shoot, but every time i go back and hold or shoot a revolver, even though i get around half the shots and take longer to reload, i get a feeling like i shouldnt have even bothered with those overcomplicated technical monstrosities. obviously thata not the way i really feel about semis, but revolvers bring something more to thr table tbat i cant put my finger on. i see them as beautiful in form and function and admire thr simplicity to their construction and workings. does anyone have this kind of experience with revolvers or semis? if so what rrvolver do you see as the greatest example of what a rrvolver is supposed to be? which revolver is the standard you hold all others up against?

S&W's modern Double-Action is the pinnacle of revolver design and reliability.

Colt SAA for the granddaddy that still is one fine gun.

You can make an old Colt SAA shoot with half the internal parts broken or missing if you have too.

Long as you have the hammer, cylinder, base pin, and frame, it can be fired.

IMHO it is the S&W M10, it is very simple yet at the same time bullet proof, and balance in the hand?.... superb. They have stood the test time and have only gotten better with time. By that I'm not refering to the MIM parts or the locks, but rather better steels of today.

In a single action: Colt Single Action Army.

In a double action: S&W Model 10.

Honorable Mention:

Colt Model 1851 and Model 1860.

Colt Official Police and New Service.

I haven't found a handgun that's perfect in every respect, revolver or semi-auto, my 19-3 snub nose strikes a pretty good balance. Two words describe her: instinctive, trustworthy.
