Bedding epoxy choices?

Acraglas Gel almost to the exclusion of anything else. Long shelf life, easy to use, and sticks to itself. If I needed something liquid I'd use regular Acraglas, but only when necessary -- the Gel doesn't run all over the place.

Still backorder right now, though. This is a time when that long shelf life pays for itself!

Ive been experimenting with thin slices of high-density foam. It compresses down when the stock is installed and provides a rock-solid connection. I just place it at all the contact points with just a drop of Elmers to hold it in place during reassembly. Promising accuracy results and no issues with heat so far.

Not sure how long it will last, but its easily replaced and requires no mess or permanent mods to the gun.

I was asking a 'so called' gunsmith at a local once about bedding my 2 Savages. When I asked what compound he used, he said 'Bondo'.

I used Bondo on a stock once where I had to fill in a huge cavity and didn't want to use $40 of epoxy. I did devcon over the top of it though. No way I would use bondo as the only product though.

I have been using Marine-tex as I can get it at the local ACE Hardware. Everything else I looked at last time was all on Back-Order, everywhere.

Not of any of the rifles when opened up, but this is the stuff Ive been using. Some wheel manufacturers use it to protect aluminum rims in transit, so I get lots of it free at work. Itll compress down to 1-2mm.

For those new to bedding you need to use a good release agent. If you stick a barreled action in the stock just put it in a freezer over night. One smack with a rubber mallet will usually pop it loose.
