Ok, I can understand that. I had a nice little burn myself from just that situation. I prefer the thinner rail but that is all personal preference so I can't blame you on wanting the thicker rail. Cna't go wrong with the Larue or DD either.
Also if you decide not to cut down the FSB I suggest the VLTOR. It fits under every rail I have seen.
Cutting down the FSB is easy though. I did mine with a Hacksaw, Grinder and a Dremel. Hacked off the big parts with the Hacksaw, got it cut down with the Grinder then finished it off with the Dremel. You can use a Rotary tool in place of a proper grinder but FSB have a bit of unicorn horn mixed in with them when they are made and are hard as hell to work on so unless you want to go through a lot of cutting wheels and grinding pads I suggest the middle step.
I just duracoated mine when I was working on refinishing another gun/ I think the entire process took me about 30-45 minutes and I was moving slow since I had never done it before.
