Beginner Question

Hello everyone!

well i;m trying to buy a rifle, Remington 700 SPS but...i'm not sure what caliber use.

is there a big difference between the 300 Ultra Mag and the 30-06?

any input is welcome.

You will certainly get more use from a .30-06 than an UltraMag.Ammo is way cheaper and much more available,and recoil is way less,with the '06.A .30-06 can be loaded to shoot almost any species of game in North America,I think you'd be very happy with it.

If this will be your first center fire rifle or even your first 30 caliber rifle I'd also recommend the 30-06 over the 300 magnums. For the same reasons as Wayne.
