Any good range should have a range safety officer that can perform a range safety course that includes safe weapons handling. When you purchase your weapon have the dealer give you complete instructions on how to place your weapon on safe, load the weapon, place the weapon on fire, and how to fire the weapon. Then you need to know how to unload the weapon and once again secure it or make it safe. If you get a semi-automatic remember removing the magazine does not necessarily unload the weapon, there might still be a round in the chamber. Until you have visually checked the chamber the weapon is still considered loaded.
Always err on the side of caution. Always have the bolt open on a weapon when moving the weapon, that ensures that you can readily see that you have checked the chamber and it is unloaded. Never hand a weapon barrel first. Always check the chamber of a weapon when you pick it up or it is handed to you, first check the magazine though to ensure it is removed. Always keep the weapon pointed in a safe direction. Never point the weapon at anything you do not intend to shoot. Never put your finger on the trigger until you are ready to shoot.
Help me out here guys...I am getting tired...I better sign off for now.
