Hi guys, first post here at THR. I'm in the market for a new rifle and would like some your suggestions. I'm looking for something tactical and bolt action. My budget is no more than $700. I have come across the Savage 10FCM Scout and like it alot. I'm not sure if it's technically considered tactical or not, but that should give you an idea of what I'm looking for. Thanks guys!

Hi there and welcome to The High Road. The Savage would be a great choice and you have a number of choices in your price range. You might want to take a look at a Remington 700 also. Try looking at the Remington SPS Tactical.

I bought at Remington 700 SPS Tactical for $560 about 3 months ago coming off of deployment. I had already ordered a McMillan A5 for it so the wait wasn't long once I got back.
The Hogue stocks that come with the factory rifle though aren't bad, and will serve you pretty well until you can afford to upgrade if you desire.
Unless you are getting ready to be a "sniper" you really don't need a tactical rifle unless you just like the looks of them. Keep in mind that the "tactical" look will cost you more. Here is what mine finished up like. Good luck.
