(Belding&Mull powder measure) Not as common as they were in decades past but the powder measure of preference for this reloader. The B&M meters the IMR series powders with exceptional accuracy. I also have Redding measures but for a constant charge weight/volume the B&M is hard to beat with the stick powders.

Do you have both the large and small drop tubes for yours? I've got both for mine and you're right, it's very accurate. The only powder I've found that it won't meter accurately is IMR 800X, which meters like cornflakes.

Mine also has the brass hopper, which is smaller than the one pictured.

Hope this helps.

Fred

I had one since the early 70's but it came with a brass hopper and only one tube. As noted it is very accurate with the IMR powders. I also have a RCBS Uniflow which I use for ball powders. If anybody needs the chart that goes with one PM me with address and I'll send you a copy.

Back in the late '60's-early '70's, when I began benchrest competition, B&M measures were widely used by competitors. I haven't seen any used in recent years but they are sought after by vintage tool collectors and occasionally show up on ebay. A much upgraded version of the B&M measure was once made in Australia, which worked basically the same, and even used B&M measuring tubes. It was beautifully made but very expensive to manufacture so market was extremely limited. A photo of one is attached.

I have a a B&M exactly like the first picture. When it was given to me :what: about a 2 years ago, it was in the box with all paperwork and had never been used. It is great for working up loads, but mass loadings take forever.

I managed to get a Vega Tool version of the B&M before Vega went belly up. It is called the Schutzen and is an improvement on the original model. Very nice. I got a B&M micrometer tube from Ebay to add to it and both work quite nicely. I would never part with it for any amount of money as it is the only one I have ever seen.

Actually, there are always at least two for sale on Ebarf. They go for $50-75, which is certainly a good price considering how well they work.

Recently, I was having problems metering stick powder thru my Lyman 55 and had to resort to the B&M (Vega) to get the job done. It was a slow process, so I went looking for an alternative.

What I found was a powder measure that operates as accurately as the B&M and as consistently with all powders like a B&M. It even uses the same basic principle as the B&M (drop tube that measures the powder), except that the tube is a permanent part part of the measure. It is called the Quick Measure. I ordered one and it came today. Will get it installed tomorrow.

Here is pic of it from their web site:

There's 3 of them on Ebay right now. Do a search on "Belding Mull"
