Hello fellow gun lovers! I just purchased an antique parts gun (for $50) thinking I might be able to refurbish/restore/repair it. It's a rough Belgian Copy of a 44 DA Top Break S&W. It's missing the main spring, the ejector, and a couple other parts. Can I make or buy parts? THANKS!

Sounds nice...What no pictures??? :)

I'd suspect that you are going to have to make any parts you might need. It is possible that some parts from the S&W it is copied from 'might' work or might work with a little fitting to your firearm. Remember that in general you can only take material away from a part, so making another ill fitting part fit your firearm is frustrating at best. Very often the Belgian copies only superficially looked like what they were copying and shared no parts. I have not been able to find one, but have you looked at the diagram for a S&W 44 DA to see if the missing parts are even close to what is in the S&W? Numrich does have some parts for the S&W 44 DA. Unfortunately they do not provide a diagram for this model. There is/was a website run by a person who collected hundreds if not thousands of gun diagrams. When he passed the website was kept alive but became a pay site. That in and of itself wouldn't bother me, but I can't remember what the website was called. As I recall, it was his name and still is. I just can't remember his name. Maybe someone here can remember.

Pictures would help, especially of the area where the parts are missing.

I have perhaps a similar antique. My issue is not so much lack of parts, but I suspect the hammer and/or trigger are damaged, since it won't hold half or full cock. Presently disassembling it to figure out what is wrong. If you ever disassemble yours we should swap pix to help troubleshoot our Belgian .44s

That sound like either the trigger or the hammer notches.
