I've finished assembling my new m1, but it looks funny. the chromed bolt seems to be exposed too much in the ejection port.
and although the manual says that I can remove the bolt handle with a sharp tug, i can't get it out for the life of me.

any help?

another question

the manual (which is HORRIBLE) says something about the catridge drop lever doing something to help the bolt close when unloading, but what does it really do?

god i hate this manual it really sucks...

I don't know if this is what you're doing, but I've noticed that if I ease the bolt group forward gently, the locking head (the shiny part that rotates) will show more than when I pull the bolt handle back and just let it fly, allowing the recoil spring to force the whole assembly forward.

Also, make sure you've got some lubricant on the bolt, if you're just assembling this new for the first time. The Benelli's a pretty clean-shooting gun, but the bolt likes to be lubed along the tracks it rides in inside the receiver. You don't want metal-on-metal binding up the action as it cycles.

This is where shoestrings come in handy. First, knot one around the bolt handle, between the bolt and the curved finger-grip part of the bolt handle. This will give you something to wrap around your hand for a better grip. Then, pull the shoestring away from the bolt, and the handle should pop out. It'll be easier to remove in later cleanings etc. by hand.

Do NOT use pliers or Vise-Grips to pull it out, unless you want to mark up the bolt handle.

Did they change something ? I have an older one ,after removing barrel the bolt is rearward "press the carrier button...allowing the bolt tomove slowly forward until it stops...pull out the cocking lever" simple as that , no problem. This gun is very easy to field strip.

ah!

well, um.. i guess im just being too delicate with my new m1. shoe strings are a great idea! ill go try that out right now!
ps:

i took it to the range (forgot to lube it up first, will do now) and it was a real beauty. using ic choke i put 133 00 into a target at 9 feet and it was like it got hit by a slug..

a big round hole where i guess all the pellets struck.
