I fired the M4 last weekend, despite the technical difficulty of cycling.
Shooting 2 3/4 Winchester deer slugs, The recoil was very pleasant and manageable, but the muzzle tilt was tremendous. The rubber butt plate absorbed a lot of the shock. Not as bad as a single-action Mossberg shooting deer slugs. I would rate the recoil as 60% of the felt-recoil of a single-action Mossberg shooting deer slugs.
Apparently, the aftermarket forward grip manufactured by Mako hindered the my M4 function. Gunsmith told me that it cycled without problem with original factory grips, very strange.
