So over the the last couple years I've heard people tear on the Nova over and over about how the forearm rattles. I have a Nova, and yes, it did rattle. My gripe is that the rattle is super east to fix. All that you have to do is tighten the two hex screws, (one on each side on the forearm) that's it. So, stop ripping on the Nova because of the rattle.

Good to know - thanks.

Why do you suppose it is that Benelli ships them so rattlely? Is there some benefit to running those two screws loose?

One thing is that if the screws are too tight it binds up at the back of the stroke, so by having it loose (and rattling) it makes it slicker. But you can tighten them enough to get rid of the rattle, and still have it be slick.

shotgunjoel.....people would rather rag about something than actually pass along some simple info to rectify the situation. I just had my Supernova apart this AM for a cleaning (4 day shotgun course starts later this week) and noted the two screws you mentioned. Yep, that certainly would be tough to adjust.

I love my Nova 20 gauge, rattles and all. I have tried the screw tightening trick but it didn't help much. It might work on some. It is worth a try, though.

Yes arizona, people would much rather complain than fix problems. It's sad.
This characterization is largely flawed, and I personally resent it. Many folk 'complain' because they have no idea that they can resolve the situation themselves.

You might want to devote a little more time (and a lot less attitude) at educating, instead of spending your time denigrating...

Loose screws mean the action is slicker and easier to work. Tight screws make the action tighter and harder to work. I'll live with the rattle.

True, but there is a happy balance in-between hindering the action, and making a lot of noise.

I did this very thing for my SuperNova tactical (made sense to me). Its funny though, my Mossberg came "from the factory" with a nice forend rattle as well. But, sure enough, many peeps merely called it a feature of sorts and really had nothing negative to say about it (dont get me wrong though, I love Mossbergs...particularly the 590/590A1). Also, many Remingtons I have tried rattled as well. But, for some reason the Benelli shotguns have always been criticized for the same damn thing. Stupid.

Either way, yes...I agree. Tightening/loosening those two hex screws make a difference, one way or the other. Personally, I applaud Benelli for having thought of adding those screws in the first place. Just goes to show that Benelli does indeed pay close attention to detail.

The only thing I have against these Novas/SuperNovas is their capacity (speaking of the "special purpose" models) and the lack of a front bead sight only configuration.

If they could up the standard tube capacity to 6 and allow for front bead sights as an option, well...I probably would not own anything else as they are, IMHO, one of the highest quality pump shotguns you can buy for under $500 brand new.

the mossberg rattle is 100 times worse. i have had both. i tightened the screws slighly on the nova to make it rattle free, i ended up loosening them a bit it makes the gun a faster shooter. i realy dont understand why people complain its fixable, the mosberg isnt but the mossberg is a good gun just not for hunting in my opinion. i think the benelli rattles less then a remington or winchester too.
