Benelli Supernova won’t eject shells reliably, jams every few rounds

A couple of years ago, I bought a Benelli Supernova Tactical pump action shotgun. The day I bought it NIB from a local gun store, I fired 50+ problem free rounds. The next time out several months later, I fired 100 more problem free rounds. To that point, these were the only two times I had ever fired the gun. It fed all rounds reliably and smoothly.

Around Christmas time last year, I installed a Nordic +2 magazine extension tube; when I test fired the gun it jammed a lot; empty shells were not consistently ejecting from the gun and sometimes it would double feed. I was really busy with work at that time, but I figured I would just remove the Nordic +2 extension and my problems would be solved.

Fast forward to today. I removed the Nordic +2 tube and re-installed the factory Benelli magazine spring and cap, but to my disappointment, the failure to eject and double feeding continued. I now have no idea what’s going on. I can't shoot more than 1-2 rounds without things jamming badly.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

edit to add: I tried 3 different brands of 2.75" shells (Federal 00, Winchester, and Remington field loads) all jammed equally bad.

Are you sure you swapped out springs? Sounds like a high pressure spring may be to blame.

Just a heads up....Nordic sells their extensions with too long of a spring for most applications. You need to trim it down yourself.

Failure to eject would have nothing to do with your magazine - extension or original - since a Benelli is basically a blow-back operated mechanism, you need the correct pressure and spring and ejector to make that work. Is something possibly bent or broken?

I put back the original spring and Benelli magazine cap and the problem still persists. I did trim the Nordic spring when I originally installed it.

I called Benelli today; they emailed me a return shipping label and said that they will make the needed repairs under warranty. I still can't help but wonder what the cause of this problem is.
