Just got and shot my first ever air rifle. It is a 22 caliber PCP (pre-charged pneumatic) which holds up to 3000psi and can supposedly attain velocities of 1000fps using either CO2 or compressed air (scuba tank). The gun has a barrel shroud and is so quiet the pellet hitting the target makes more noise than the gun itself. I am not set up with a decent source of air pressure yet but I charged it off my kid's paintball canister (only got 1000psi off that) and set up a 10 meter target upstairs in the bedrooms :D

It did pretty pretty darn good... Me not so much. Took me two hours just to figure out a way to get the stupid ammo can open  Here are some pictures I took...

The rascally ammo can and a pair of oil filter wrenches -

That's a lot of shooting for $9 (500 pellets) -

A picture of the gun and a scope I had laying around (gun does not come with sights) -

Note the lack of pressure :( I could have filled it again but one pellet went through my 5" thick cardboard backstop and and bounced around. Haven't found it yet and am not looking forward to stepping on any of those wearing nothing but socks :uhoh:

And here is my target... First three 3-shot groups were all fired at the center bull. I badly over-adjusted the crosshairs after the first group and almost missed the paper :banghead: Hit dead on the third group (pure luck). The final 2 groups were both 5 shot groups without any further adjustment.

One additional tidbit of information which some of you guys may not already be aware...
A pillow laying on top of a TV tray does not make a very good bench rest.

How many shots can you get from 1 charge of the gun, is it just 1 shot per charge? Also, nice groups!

I think those hold 3000psi, and should be good for about 40 shots, before, noticeable drop in poi.
I think one of those, or a similar Air force, with a scope and synth stock, will be my next choice.

also check out Wallyworld or other sports stores, or even army surplus stores; alot of them have tanks for paintballers, and check out paintballer stores/companies/ shops etc., they will deff have your loading gear/valves/ etc.

I did 20 shots off of 1000psi here and only used up about 100psi. 3000psi should give a person a great many shots. But refilling every 20 or 30 shots is recommended for the sake of accuracy since the point of impact is going to string vertically as pressure drops.

It is a 9 shot bolt action. I have two clips and will likely refill the air and the clips together as they are used up unless I am out in the woods.

Not that I have seen of Rollis. The type of compressor that fills car tires only go up to around 120 psi.

They do make a manual pump for these high pressure guns. It looks Looks like a bicycle pump. Costs is half as much as the gun. It's not a quick procedure to fill however and requires a lot of effort.
