just bought a new beretta 21a in .22lr. first trip to the range the little pistol performed flawlessly. i fired it with aguila sss, remington subsonic, remington viper, remington golden bullet, cci mini mags, and winchester high velocity 40 grn. i even loaded the magazine alternately with subsonic, sss, and high velocity, not a single stoppage. accuracy was pretty good for a pistol this size, a forty or fifty shot grouping roughly the size of a bowling ball at 25-30 feet offhand. i did not shoot it from a bench, but i would expect the groups to improve if i would have. i was wary of the aguila sss keyholing, but all holes in the cardboard were round. there was one that i was a little suspicious about, but closer inspection proved to be two holes almost on top of eachother.

I know that dry firing is not recommended, but do i have to tilt the barrel to manually lower the hammer at a safe speed? i have not dry fired it, but there is a slight nick in the 12 o clock position of the chamber, is this from firing or is my thumb not slowing the hammer down enough.

Great little gun I got mine in the 80's and still enjoy shooting it. If you aren't familar with the action aways tip the barrel up to make sure the gun is loaded or unloaded. You can't unload it by racking the slide back. Enjoy and shoot straight.

yep, thats the way i have been lowering the hammer also, thumb on hammer, pull trigger, let hammer down gently. i think i will just tip the barrel up, then the firing pin wont hit the chamber area at all.

I love my 21a. More accurate than some 4inch 9mms that ive shot, and after you get past the double action pull the trigger is quite nice. I think I paid $125 from my local shop for my well loved piece and its easily the best $125 ive ever spent!

I have 2 of them . One get fired every day at least 1 round normally 2 I use it to call my dog home and I let him have a run in our woods behind our home Its nice to live in country.
. We have fired a brick of the CCI standard velocity lead between the 2 3 people shooting and not 1 jam or miss fire

If you have one that doesn't jam Congratulations!

Mine is very picky about ammo, but I found ammo that works perfectly in it.
As long as I use Fiocchi High Velocity, or one of the expensive CCI brands it works great.
The Fiocchi ammo is pretty standard cheap stuff ($2.69/box of 50).

I added the gold plated parts & custom grips

the tp 22 is the tilt barrel from taurus right? i was considering that one when i was in the market for a small .22, i went with the beretta because of the da, instead of dao.

Just got one. I've only put about 70 Minimags through it, and it had some problems cycling the first round in the magazine- I needed to give the slide a slight puosh with my thumb to get it into battery. Had no problems with the Aguila SSS, though. I'm told they take at most about 150 rounds to smooth out.

I think it's a good idea to flip up the barrel before lowering the hammer. You never know if there might be a round in there. My loading drill is safety on, magazine in, tip up, load the barrel, tip down. After I shoot, it's safety on, magazine out, and tip up the barrel to make sure it's empty.

the tp 22
is reason I went to the Beretta my TP- 22 had lite strike trouble and plastic grips breaking . Went back to factory. Came back still with same problem and grips were no better. They polished the feed ramp . I have 2 of the 21 now. Great pistols.
