I said never again on Beretta, and apparently never meant a year.

Anyway a model 21a with threaded barrel showed up at my LGS and it followed me home.

And there is a problem. The magazine does not eject. I mean I can push the button and pull it out, but there is no spring tension "pushing" the mag out of the mag well.

Edit to ad this happens on full, partial and empty magazine.
I have another 21a in Inox and that mag ejects out of both guns with spring assist. The new mag does not eject out of either. So that narrows it down to the new mag.

What is the mechanism of force behind magazine ejection on the 21a in relation to the magazine? Both appear identical.

Edit to add this happens on empty mag. Also there is no resistance inserting or stripping the mag out. I don't feel the magazine lock in even though it does.

Well I did surgery and figured it out. The method of ejection is the follower pushing against the slide.

Beretta drilled the follower for the cross screw too high by .035". This does not allow the follower to stick up enough to engage the slide allowing mag spring pressure to eject the mag.

The mag feeds fine, just doesn't eject out of the gun. Seeing that I have (2) 21a's that function, I will just count me as lucky. I will by some more mags, and when I have those in hand, I may see if I can elongate the slot in the mag body that the screw rides in.

Side note: suppressed 21a is the quietest gun I have ever shot.

This is good information. Have you spoken with Beretta CS to see if they will get you a fully functional mag? If it is not in spec they should, and if that is the new spec that should be made public as well.

I like my old 21A, but it hits left of point of aim at 7 yd.

I couldn't wait and ordered some mags. I did end up lengthening the slot that the head of the screw rides in and everything is right as rain.

I only did this after taking measurements of both mag body and follower and then comparing to known good mag.

I have not contacted Beretta, due to past experiences with their CS. I'd rather eat the cost of a mag.

I tried to make this thread as informative as I could due to not being able to find the info I was looking for.

My intent was to supply a fix to a mechanical issue. Not to bash any company.

Still a good thing to point out. I was looking at one of these yesterday in 22LR.

Thanks for the post!
