Ok, i handled a beretta 96 today, i really liked the vertical "1911" ish grip on it, but what got me was how much plastic was used in this gun. Do the 92's have less plastic? I mean, it even had a plastic trigger on it. I like metal in my guns, the more the better, does the 92 have less plastic parts?

newer production 90 series have plastic parts. not exactly sure what date they change from all metal to metal/plastic. the model u describe is called a vertec, it has a different grip than the normal 92/96fs, also has a rail up front.

perhaps u can look for a used 92/96 vertec with all metal parts,

I have a 96 centurian and a 92 FS that have no plastic on them except for the factory grips, keep looking

Those "plastic parts" are actually metal parts that are plastic coated. I believe only the guide rod is actual plastic.

The parts can be replaced, but I would just boycott Beretta all together. They use crappier parts and add on to the price doesn't really appeal to me. For me there are other companies I can send my money to. Plus the dustcovers on the newer ones are slanted as opposed to the older, more preferred, straighter dustcover.

The 92 wouldn't have any less plastic on the newer guns. Hey, the 90-two will have even MORE plastic! :D

Dont count them out

Keep looking not all of them are made with these plastic parts. Second of all they may be a little on the expensive side, but I would choose my beretta over any gun i have shot or own HANDS DOWN. I got a really good deal on my last purchase 96inox with absolutely no plastic parts.($400) Proly one of the smoothest .40s out.

plastic 92

i have a taurus 92af and for wiw, i find mine a better allround pistol, and about $200.00 or more cheaper! even talked to a gent who just got back from fighting those sand fleas and he told me he and a few others have all remarked the Taurus works better over there!
