Beretta 92

T o back up ghost's comparison of the BHP and the 92

I had both and did prefer the 92 over the BHP, and really did not want to like the Beretta

Because of some financial reasons I had to sell one or the other

I chose to sell the BHP
Partly because I felt I could get $100 more for the BHP and partially because I like the DA trigger and the Beretta didn't bite me

I really regret selling the Hi Power and would like to buy another one, preferably the one I sold, but feel I made the right choice

The sad part is that the HP was accurate as hell and I can't shoot the Beretta worth crap yet

I have the Taurus so I just ordered the Beretta. Soon I will have the answer I seek.

Yeah, right out of your hand.

As you might have guessed, I'm not a fan. That's not to say that others don't like it (as you have seen) but man, they are way too big, way too heavy, and I can't begin to fathom a reason why I would buy one.

I shoot tight groups with all of my guns, and yet I can't shoot expert during quals with the M9. That by itself is enough to make me unhappy. The frame separations and broken locking blocks don't instill me with confidence, either. I am willing to write that up to clapped-out, poorly maintained training weapons, but man, how can you trust your life to a weapon when you have seen nothing to recommend it?

I'll pass, thanks. More for you guys.

Our 92FS is the only handgun we own currently and I have to say, that it is a mighty fine piece of steel.

yes it is a bit big and a bit heavy, but because of that, there is little to NO recoil in it at all and it has been one of the reasons that I've gotten new people into shooting. They all go "wow that wasn't bad at all".

It is far from a CCW, this is true. I can only imagine how heavy it would be and how hard it would be to hide a firearm of this magnitude, but it is a solid gun through and through. Not to mention the ease of cleaning. Taking it apart is cake and I taught my little brother how to disassemble and reassemble it (so now I can dirty it and he can clean it for me:neener:).

Currently looking into getting a 96 slide and some appropriate mags. Preferably in SS so I can get the bi-tone look going

I like my 92FS, but I LOVE my XD. I love the action, grip, and sexiness of the Beretta, but I just cannot shoot it NEARLY as accurately as I can my XD

I have owned a 92FS for about 15 years (and also shot the M9 in the military). Although it is very smooth, if picking a defense pistol that needs to be acurate, I will grab my Springfield XD. Although my "Bright Blue" Browning Hi Power is stunning to look at, I find it isn't a "natural pointer" like the Springfield XD. I hate plastic guns, and still prefer the XD (which is a plastic gun).

PS: for fun at the range engaging multiple targets, the 92FS is lots of fun when used with my Baretta Storm rifle using the same magazines. That's all I use it for now.

PSS: my 92FS greatly prefers heavy bullets (like 147-grain HP) for accuracy. Anybody else notice this aspect?
