I'm not a fan simply because of the m9. If I can find a 92 at a range for rent or a buddy has one I will try to give it a fair shake. Just not impressed at all so far with beretta. I will try for the sake of being open minded

This occurred in testing, and only after tens of thousands of rounds. It's also hammer pin which would no longer allow the slide to fly off the frame hammer pin which would no longer allow the slide to fly off the frame should it crack.)

In addition, Beretta found that the ammunition the US was using in testing was 15,000psi over the SAAMI max for the 9x19mm.

People who bring this issue up as a reason to not buy a 92 must not trust Ford since their problems with the Pinto. It's been corrected for 20+ years and the problem has yet to resurface in the millions of 92's out there.

Prior to 1989, there were approx 30 slide seperations and a couple of frame failures (within the entire US military). These were attributed to variances in French supplied steel and excessive use of overpressure cartridges.

By 1989, the design and metalurgy were modified, and all M9 production was moved to the US. There haven't been any slide separations or frame failures since. As a slide, locking block or frame reach the end of their service life, they will simply begin to show a noticeable crack, just like any other pistol. Current service life is over 30K for the slides and frames, a bit less for the locking block.
