Neos

The Neos is the ugliest pistol ever made, way too "Buck Rogers" for my taste. However, that being said they are the one thing that means a lot. They are very reliable. I have 2k rounds through mine with only one failure and it was a dud round. I've had nothing, not Ruger's, not Smith 41's, not Browning's, not Colts etc.etc. that are one bit more reliable. The triggers are awful and they are laughingly inexpensive. But they do run and run and run. They are fairly accurate also, but hampered by the trigger.

I voted other. My suggestion is to get a Ruger 22/45 based on cost, longevity, and ability to run for a long time without a cleaning. Also, there is a magazine loader tool that works for it called "The Ultimate Cliploader" that works better than any other magazine loader I have used.

If I had to choose one or the other, I would choose the 22A simply because one can order parts for it without having to beg and plead. For any 22A owners out there, I suggest picking up an extra firing pin. Our rental gun F.P. broke and I had to backorder one for two months.

Even though I prefer the Beretta,,,

Even though I prefer the Beretta,,,
I'm sure you will be happy with the S&W,,,
Both are good pistols so either would serve you well.

When I took my concealed carry class many long years ago,,,
I didn't own a semi-auto handgun so I rented a 22A,,,
At 12 yards I tore a 2" circle out of the Bullseye,,,
All 100 rounds went into that center spot.

You will be happy with your 22A,,,
I am sure of it.

If the carbine kit is difficult to acquire, that may bump the Neos out o the running. I wanted the most utility out of that gun, and the carbine kit was a major selling point.

I really enjoy my carbine kit,,,
I put a nice 4X AR style scope on it,,,
Now I can hit water bottles at 100 yards.

But for me it was as much for the "cool" factor as anything else,,,
I own a Mossberg 702 Plinkster semi-automatic 22 rifle,,,
That $109.99 rifle outshoots the carbine any day.

No matter what you end up buying,,,
Have fun at the range with it,,,
Fun is what it's all about. ;)

I have had my neos for about 2 years now and love it. As others have stated, however, the carbine kit is just not to be found currently.

I keep hearing that it cant stand up to a buckmark or a markII/III. I would disagree. I have one and there are 2 others in my family. None of them are the least bit finicky over ammo choice and none have any problems even after being put through many thousands of rounds.
