I have never owned or even shot a Beretta before. I have always liked the looks of the 92. I think they are classic. Am I the only one that thinks that the PX-4 storm is the UGLIEST gun on the planet? I mean really. I'm sure they are a fine pistol though.

I think both the 92 and the PX4 are good looking guns.

I'm not a big fan of the rail on the 92A1, but it is growing on me.

While I do like the 92FS better than the PX4, I think the PX4 is one of the better looking polymer guns

Owned a Beretta 92S from before it was adopted as a US sidearm....an Italian beauty and a wonderful gun. Just a spectacular pistol. I shot it very little and sold it last year to buy something I'd likely shoot (and carry) a lot more.

I shot a Px4 subcompact and was hooked. Everything (in my hands) that the 92S was in terms of functional performance but in a size I was more comfortable shooting a lot.

Pix above of my Px4 subcompact with adjustable sights and Talon grip. I think the look of the Px4 is distinct...not particularly a "handsome" gun but distinct and "muscular" looking if not "pretty". The Px4 subcompact looks like "a bulldog" according to my Wife. I like my Px4 Storm SC as a shooter and SD/carry pistol much better than the 92S that primarily sat in a drawer for 30+ years. I have owned a number of Beretta pistols over the last 40 years and will own a few more before I'm done. Gotta have a Pico before it's all said and done if they ever release them.

The Beretta 92 is/can be a very accurate pistol that's relable.
Just for me, they are also clunky---a highly technical term describing heft & feel.
The CZ 75 full size models out-class it for ergos, heft and 'feel'.

... 92 is the Kim Kardashian of the Beretta line...px4 is more like chloe.

Heavy butt, all plastic, expensive, high maintenance but completely useless? ;)

Seriously though, I owned one for many years but could never shoot it worth anything while my friend could shoot cloverleafs with it. The grip just didn't fit my hand. Finally sold it to a friend who loves it.

The only other guns that I think may compete against the Beretta 92 for "classic" looks that will never age and always look good are the 1911 and Browning HP.

The PX4 may be an excellent piece (I happen to like shooting it) however it looks like a space pistol and is too radical for me.

The Beretta 92 vs the PX4 is like Audrey Hepburn vs Lady Gaga. Both may be considered attractive by some, but there is no arguing that one will be beautiful forever...

To me, in a 9mm., a Browning Hi-Power is more of a classic design than the Beretta Model 92. Not a big fan of the PX4, especially the subcompact variant, but it does have a decent balance and size to it. The only Model 92 that works somewhat for me is the Vertec model.

To each his own.
I find the 92 butt ugly, ergonomics suck and a boat anchor.
The only way it could remotely be considered a "classic" is because it was adopted by the military, which is another story.
I'll decline going into the PX-4.

How big are your hands? I have medium sized hands and find the grip is too much for me on the Beretta. Make sure you try one out before buying. I can handle some large grips, but did not care for how the Beretta handled.
I like full sized 9s, but the 92 is bigger than I like.

My 92fs is probably my favorite 9mm.
Grip sizes are so subjective. I have medium hands with thinner fingers, but the 92 fits my hand better than most guns.
It's heavy, it's outdated, and has a lower capacity than a Glock. However, I find it gorgeous, soft shooting, and very accurate.
I've also noticed it's a very clean gun, which surprises me due to the open design. However, after 150ish rounds, it was a snap to clean up. A little residue on the feed ramp and around the breach. My other pistols required a little of a scrub down.
I really enjoy this pistol.

I work at a gun shop. I do like the 92a1. The added two extra round capacity, and the removable front sight are a welcome update. I personally didn't like the ergos on the px4. The decocker is sharp. I could see your hand hurting after a day at the range. It also felt fat. Like you couldn't get enough of your hand on the gun. I don't think you'd have a problem with functionality though. To each their own.

Grip sizes are so subjective. I have medium hands with thinner fingers, but the 92 fits my hand better than most guns.

Agree with that. FWIW, my 92 Beretta grip is 5 7/8" in circumference. Compare that to a XD full size at 5.5" and a gen 2 Glock 17 at 6". Not a big difference.

Personally I think the PX4 looks a lot better than the 92 (I own the 92FS but have never even held a PX4 - just like how it looks).

As another poster said - I'll keep my 92 only because it was/is the sidearm of the US military for a long time. Other than that I find it an overrated gun. I prefer the trigger be constant in weight (IE, most striker fired guns, and though I've not felt it the PX4 "C" type action sounds good).

Even amongst DA/SA's though the CZ-75 is a much better gun IMHO. Like I said though the Beretta PX4 "C" sounds interesting and I'd be anxious to give one a spin.

You know, my every day carry gun has been almost exclusively a wheel gun for over 40 years, and I don't think any AL can compare to the beauty of a fine wheel gun. But I do own a number of AL's, one of which is a 92FS. Of all my AL's, and I do own more than just a few, not one of them flips my switch like the 92, they are in my opinion the best looking of all the AL's.

In addition to the looks and feel of the 92, I find them the easiest of pistols to shoot accurately.

I own a 96A1 and PX4 Compact in .40. Both are amazing pistols. The PX4 is my EDC and has been absolutely reliable with over 1500 rounds through it. At least the PX4 has a bit of design in it instead of just be a block. I've come to really like it's looks. Though the first time I saw it, it did look a bit futuristic looking. From what I remember, Beretta has someone from the Ferrari help with the design process.

I've had plenty of people shoot my PX4 .40 and say it's the softest shooting .40 they have every fired. The rotating barrel does help with the recoil.

If I worked somewhere that furnished handguns, and they chose the 92 for me to carry, I'd use it with confidence. I've owned a couple, wouldn't spend my money on another. Good enough guns, but there are better guns, and much better looking guns.

I love the looks of the 92, except the Vertex, ugly and they ruined the grip, which is nearly perfect. I don't have huge hands, and I really don't understand the "to big" comments at all. Just shows you how subjective it all is.

I've always thought the Beretta 92 looked good. My only experience with it has been the Army M9 and I hate it. It's too big for a 9mm, I don't like the open action, and they tend to jam when not well cleaned and oiled.

I've shot the M9 in the service and I do like the gun. The grips are pretty large for my medium sized hands, but they feel quite comfortable and fill the hand well. The sights on the M9 (I know different from the 92) are good combat sights, but I would prefer them to be higher visibility. I found the DA trigger pull on the two examples I qualified with to both be heavy and long... with the subsequent SA pulls not bad. I think going with a DA/SA pistol for military use is a smart idea. No fumbling with a safety, just a long, revolver-like first trigger pull that I would imagine would reduce accidental discharges and shootings by some military folks who frankly probably don't handle a firearm as often as you might think they do.

So I personally quite like the M9, which as you know is the militarys version of the Beretta 92. I wouldn't buy one myself, but I think it's a good service pistol for of course the military and law enforcement as well.
