Took my brand new Pico to the range this weekend, right after I field stripped it and cleaned it. It wasn't too nasty, just a bit of oil in it.
I took 3 boxes of self defense ammo (corbon high velocity, winchester train&defend (the defend type), and federal low recoil). I also had 3 boxes of silver bear, but they wouldn't let me use it because the cases attracted a magnet.

I started with the corbon. First round was great, not too snappy. The second round failed to chamber, with the top of the bullet being stuck against the upper lip of the barrel. This was just a bit in front of the case. I could not pull the slide back at all until the mag was ejected. The rest of the rounds in that mag worked fine. I believe I had 3 rounds fail to load in the box. That first one that failed never would chamber, but the other two did on second try.

The winchester and federal all chambered and shot fine. The low-recoil ammo was actually pretty nice to shoot. Unfortunately, I had let my girlfriend try it with the corbon and she didn't want to try again. She doesn't like recoil, at all.

I forgot to take pictures of the target, but I was shooting reasonably well from 5/7 yards.

I wear XL gloves and I was a bit worried about it being too small for me. That really was not an issue, even with the regular mag (one has an extended grip). I can get 2 fingers around the grip, plus the trigger finger. No big deal.

Racking the slide was a bit stiff, but my girlfriend was able to do it safely.

The mag release is a bit odd. I had no issues with it, especially with two hands. I can see how it does prevent accidental ejections in pocket carry.

The sights are GREAT. Basically real sights on a pocket pistol.

Cleaning was easy. Takedown couldn't be simpler. I used the mag base to turn the takedown "screw".

It is incredibly thin. I wanted something for pocket carry and this is very nice. I have a sr9c for IWB, but this lil gun just disappears. I carried all weekend and never really noticed I had it. I have it in a desantis superfly (without the flap).

Overall, I will be very happy with it assuming a break-in makes it more reliable. I'm not sure if it was that specific ammo or it just isn't broken in; it seemed to be fine with the other two types. I need to go to the range again, hopefully with some bulk ammo just to run rounds through it. I've read that they can take a few hundred rounds to break in.

Questions? I hope I covered everything.

What's the trigger pull like on the Pico? It's terrible on the Bodyguard, and otherwise very nice little gun. It's pretty bad on the LCP, likewise a very nice little gun.

  1. Is the trigger an better?
  2. Is it like the LCP where it needs the slide to reset or the Bodyguard where it's a true DAO?

I haven't shot the other two, so I'm not sure I can compare. I would say it is very stiff. My trigger finger was actually a bit worn out by the end of the night. I didn't find it to be an issue with hitting the target. I will state that I don't have a huge preference in trigger type; I have something with just about every type of trigger and I guess I'm just not that picky.

It is DAO, with restrike ability.

Thanks much. This is what I wanted to know. Are you please with the purchase? The Pico working out for you? I was hot for both the LCP and then the Bodyguard but the triggers are so bad...really really bad on the Bodyguard. I am not real trigger sensitive either but wow! A stiff trigger that felt like it had a spring behind it would be a welcome improvement for me in that regard.
