Beretta PX-4 Sub-Compact - Mine, mine, mine!!

I really appreciate your descriptive report on the PX4 SC,it's helping to make the decision easier.
You are welcome! Today I ordered "slim" levers to replace the "batwing" levers (as some call them). This will also disable the manual safety, rendering it a model "G" which has a decocker only, much like the Sig I replaced.

I'm also in the midst of holster evaluation, having purchased a Crossbreed SuperTuck (received yesterday), and ordered a CTAC from Comp-Tac today (should be here in <2 weeks).

One of the bad things about a new release gun is the unavailability of holsters/accessories. Since the PX-4 shares so much with the full size, I'm not finding it to be a problem.

Stealth Levers

I got my "stealth" levers installed. They look and work great! Realize that installing them also disables the safety.

So,if I follow correctly, the slim levers simply decock only and are spring loaded to return to the safety "off" position after the decock action?

Exactly! The decock-only mode will eventually be made by Beretta, and called the "G" model (safety + decock = "F")

Note, there is a way to keep the batwing levers, and still convert to decock-only (without spending anything), but I wanted the slim levers, too.

Also note that, for me, the slim levers also makes decocking a two-hand operation. You really have to work to do it with one thumb - I find it much easier to use the thumb and index finger of my left hand reaching over the gun. This is completely fine with me - you don't decock under stress or in a hurry!

Px4 SC Holster

My girl friend picked one of these up recently- we walked into the gun shop, she saw the baby Px4, and immediately walked over and put her nose to the glass!

Anyway, when we got home, we found it fit the Fobus Evolution holster for my full size Px4 perfectly.

Enjoy!:)

Congrats. Sounds like you like it! Can't believe though you are comparing it to the 340. :neener: In size only of course since the 340 has no peer.

Cool looking rig. My favorite in the Compact genre has been the Walther
P99C. I will have to put the Storm Jr. up against it specification wise.

25 yards, one inch groups eh? Damn you are good. :what:

That sucker has more warning labels on it than a OSHA step ladder in a nuclear plant. ;)

I guess I didn't exaggerate enough to convey the sarcasm with which that was written! I am a servicable shot, but NO marksman, that's for sure. I should have said 1/2" group at a quartermile! ;) I was poking fun at the other range reports: "one ragged hole at 50 feet" etc.

I love my 340, and as much as I like the PX-4 (especially the new "slim" version), I carry the 340 more often, due to its pocketablility. Once fall gets here, and cover garments more common, I will carry the PX-4 more... I'm not a spray and pray high-capacity guy, but dang, something about 14 versus 5...

Here is the deal.

Smart Carry.

PX above the right boy.

340 above the left.

Too bad it is only a 9mm ;) that sucka needs to be some mongo load.

I like it though. Looks good. I think you made an excellent choice. Especially with no FT issues.

Hey DA! I feel like a dummy - I just now realized it was you that responded and talked about the 340 - makes more sense now... I read the posts, but paid no mind to the poster!

Just some

harrassment for the fun of it.

I like your PXC.

Anything over 5 round that is reliable is ok in my book.

With winter coming on it is time to bring out the "big guns". For me it is the PM 9, but then I am a light weight.

I'm still working on the ultimate small carry. That PM 45 bothers me. :scrutiny:

I'm pretty sure this will be our next purchase.
I was about a second away from getting a full size PX4, but got a good deal on an XD9.
I have the feeling if I ever get to handle a PX4sc, I'll have a hard time walking away without it.

Put my hands on one today-fits my hand well, and the trigger is crisp and clean. It was hard to walk away from it,but no funds for another week or two. I do have a question....I noticed the guide rod is very flexible plastic, and the trigger appears to be plastic resin of some kind. How are those two items holding up on your gun FranklyTodd?
JL

I believe the trigger is metal (aluminum alloy?). Neither part shows the slightest bit of wear so far. I have not been shooting anything much lately - crazy new job - I bet I have about 1200 rounds total.

If you like DA/SA, the Storm SC is about the best thing out there - with an HK P2000SK as a close second.
