Beretta PX4 oppinions

I just traded for a NIB Beretta PX4 9mm at the local gunshow. I traded a MKIII 22/45 that I absolutly despised and was only worth around $300, so I think I came out good in the trade. I remember when these pistols came out, but other than that I know nothing about them.
What is the general concensus on these guns? Pros and cons? Any serious interest or is it just a forgotable wonder-nine in the sea of new hi-cap pistols to come out after the death of the mag ban?

P.S. I just got back from shooting it. This thing has NO recoil. Accuracy was ok but not what I expected from Beretta. I'm afraid this pistol will go the way of the Steyer and Kimber KPD, not take off like the M&P or XD.
 
Got the .45 about 2 months ago. Shoots great. The .45 is still so new you can't get mags for it though. Like my glocks and fnp's better.
 
My LE agency was testing and evaluating the Storms, to replace our existing Beretta's (brand loyalty, I guess). They were issued to one recruit cycle. At the academy range, there were multiple failures, including one slide flying forward off the frame during live fire. Admin pulled the weapon, and had the same thing happen to them. Hence, Storms are no longer on the table for us. YMMV.
 
Owned one for over a year and i have to respectfully disagree with your assertion that this pistol is not here to stay. It had no recoil as you have noted and the accuracy is accuired through practice. The gun has functioned perfectly and aims naturally. The gun will be as accurate as you are.

Yep, you should be fine with the 9mm and any trigger-slap or what is being termed, "trigger sting" and Beretta is now in the process of acknowledging that it is most prevalent in the 40cal version, least in the 9mm, and it is a hit or miss issue with 45's.

Other than that, my Px4 40cal has shot flawlessly in its firt year, some 6450 rounds, but it did develop severe trigger sting during this past fall, winter and spring, which, during warm days at, or above 69F, the guns first 30 rounds, cold shots, warm-up the guns plastic frame and metal parts to allow both the flex with the plastic frame, and the metal to become a tad looser, to make any fired rounds initial shock/harmonics, to be dissipated thru the "plastic" frame and not continue down and thru/out the trigger into one's trigger finger pad, bare skin.

Not the case, as I said, during cold temps with my gun of 64F and down, as the gun would not heat up enough thru 50 painful shots, and that's all I could take and stopped shooting it and switched over to my Sig 40cal that has never had any trigger/slap/sting on the same cold days, first cold shots, and on.. never.

...shot it again today. This gun is really growing on me. Its definaty the most comforable 9mm I have ever shot...no trigger slap here. Accuracy was even better this time (obviously, just me getting more used to the gun)
 
Lonestar, thanks for all that trigger info.

Last time I shot mine (.40 version) I wondered where that "trigger sting" came from. It was outdoors and chilly. Never felt it before, but the previous shooting had been in warmer locations.

I thought is was a weird effect of just putting the larger grip panel on it. Maybe my reach to the trigger had changed or something. And it did seem to go away as I fired more and more.

So I guess I have to carry it in a shoulder holster to the range. Hmmm, never had one of those.....

I have a .40 and I have put between 2500 and 3000 rounds through it without a single failure. Its my favorite weapon.

Never detected anything I would consider trigger slap. My GF loves to shoot it, but my daughter fired a partial mag, then put it down. She said it hurt her hand. I have caught her limp writing with other pistols, could that be related to trigger slap?
 
I have the PX4 in 9mm.It has been a great gun. Not a single gun related issue in a lot of rounds. I lost track after 4k. I have had it for about 2~3 years. I have never felt this trigger slap and my g/f has not either.

For trading straight up for a MKIII that you hated, you got a great deal. I think they still are in the 500.00 range.

Did you get the extra backstraps with it. Mine came with the medium, but there is a large and small insert.
 
Speaking of which, what's happening with the Kimber KPD?

I haven't seen one out as of yet.

No, IMO, rather just a recoil effect that she is holding on, to the gun, for dear-life, as trigger slap, trigger sting, effects only the trigger finger with pain. And, "loose grip" was suggested by Beretta as a possible cause to the trigger sting by one's Strap-use, being from: either using a too small one, or a too big one, moving the shooters trigger finger into an improper trigger-pull-placement (lenght) of the trigger finger, and getting the finger "pinched" as the pull, all the way back, of the trigger, happened.

Which FYI, myself, and many other seasoned shooters, who know proper finger-pull and placement, have told them it is not the case of getting one's, our fingers "pinched" but, rather, a sting that transmits to the very center of our trigger finger-pad not, a corner or side of the finger as, in a pinch effect..

Ps.. Just got informed that Beretta is picking up my Px4 40cal tomorrow by Fed Ex, and will be testing it, as to the cause, and why.

I will post what they, and I , find out when it returns, fixed, or replaced, or just returned as-is, they found no problem, which has happened to both, all 40cals sent in, before Matteo of Beretta got persoanlly involved, and some 45's that here sent in for both trigger sting, and feed issues, sent back twice to the owner, "fixed, shot 134 rounds", only for the seasoned gun-owner to not get thru 50 rounds (twice) with jams per mag, and sting.. Otherwise, not really fixed.

And his gun dealer read about his, and our, plight with Beretta with our Px4's and took his gun back, gave him another brand new Px4 45 and is taking up the Issue with the/that gun, with Beretta personally..

Some people can stand proud, as he certainly can in my book..
