Ok...

My last question was on the sig 250 sub compact....
Mixed reviews on that one....

How about the Beretta Storm Sub in 40??

Anyone have any experience with one?

Thanks

I'd highly encourage you to stop reading the internet and to go to a gunstore or gunshow, and finally just look at some and see how they feel.

EVERY last single gun manufacturer or gun will have a scathing horrid review on the internet.

Go out there and like ... pick a gun up, inspect it for a few good signs of quality and be happy.

*le nod*

Oh just go buy yourself a Glock 27...and learn to love it.

I agree.

I don't understand how some manufacturers can claim that their gun is "subcompact"
Is the Beretta PX4 subcompact ... subcompact?

Hardly.

Actually the subcompact model is pretty darn subcompact. Definitely on par with a G26.

But still, handle a gun, play with it and decide which one you want. When I did that, I was surprised at the outcome in my case.

Try out the XD40SC. i have had this firearm for a few years. It eats anything I put thru it, feels great, fast on target, no hiccups. Its my usual CCW.

I agree that a person should definitely get a feel for as many guns as they feel is necessary to make an informed choice.
Still, The PX4 SC is 26 oz and the XD40SC is 26 oz.

The Glock 27 is 19 oz - not to mention thinner than both.
The point I'm trying to make is not that X gun is bad - just that I think the term "subcompact" gets used too liberally. Especially when you consider that a full size Glock .40 (the 22) weighs 25 oz - one ounce lighter than the "subcompact" XD40.

Px4sc - the_stub.. lol

Honestly, I don't care what Beretta wants to call its Px4 SC tilt-up barrel/action in 9mm or 40cal.. It's nothing short (lol) of being stubby little pistol..

Given that it is just a stubby little gun, it will be worse in 40cal IMO.. a handful

Now, if you want the benefit of the rotating barrel as in their Px4 full size models, of which I've owned a Px4 40 for 4ys and it's a keeper for sure, but, they have just released their "Compact" Px4 with rotating barrel, in 9mm and, iirc, 40cals are to be had, soon, as well, and they are a tad smaller in both length and height/grip, than a Sig P229 (of which I own two P229nr 40's - keepers as well) and would be the smallest/softest shooting 40cal to be had IMHO. 9mm, no problem, as well.

Still a full, natural, grip and no pinkie extension needed and good size 9mm and 40cal max loads..

Just something to think about,

Ls

I own a PX4sc in 9mm. I have had no problem whatsoever with the gun. Comparable in size to G26 and XD9sc. You will not go wrong with any of these guns. If the PX4sc feel good in your hand go for it.

The PX4 SC is a chunky "big" sub compact. To chunky for me but even so the only real reason to have the Beretta (apart from the prestigeous name or it just melts in your hand) is the rotating barrel system.

The sub compact doesn't have that system.

The new Compact version will as lonestar said.

I have one but need sights adjusted.

I have a PX4sc and it is a nice shooting gun. Both the DA and SA triggers are nice. It is a bit chunky compared to the Glock sc's, but it has one thing a glock doesn't have: a safety. It also has a DA/SA trigger pull, so one could carry w/o the manual safety engaged, as well as an external hammer.

I'm a big Glock fan and own AND frequently carry one of several. The Glocks are amazing, dead spot on accurate out of the box. No muss, no fuss. I've owned three Glocks and shot countless more, with nothing but good times.

Even though the PX4 does not have the cool barrel of the compact and full size, it is an easy shooting gun for a 9mm and what it lacks in thin stature, it makes up for in being very well balanced for belt and IWB carry. It carrys better and more concealed than my subcompact Glock in the same type and brand of belt slide holster.

And the flip down magazine lip is very cool and makes the gun fit my hand perfectly.

My PX4sc needs some sight adjustment, and I'm in a bit of a quandry about that. I've shot from a rest several times now, with the gun shooting about 4" low and 2" to the left. I can compensate and get dead center, and I know the rear sight can be "adjusted" sideways with a sight adjustment/installation tool, it's the front sight I wonder about.

Anyone know a Gunsmith in the Austin or Houston (Texas) area who could fix this problem for me? If not in Texas, anywhere in the USA will do, if they know what they're doing.

Contact Beretta and see if they have a taller rear sight or shorter front sight that can be had for your sub compact so the point of impact can be raised a bit. Also the bullet weight can have an effect on where your gun prints on the paper. Generally lighter bullets will shoot lower than heavier bullets.

Hardly.

Can Glock call their sub-compacts "sub-compact" when my CW9 is smaller/lighter in almost every category?

If a company has a duty or full sized pistol and they make a smaller version of it, they have every right to call it compact or sub compact, regardless of how it compares in size to other manufacturers models.

Your CW 9 is a single stack - a slightly different catagory?

And Kahr's can be pricey and seem to be hit an miss in the polymer frames, which are truly small guns.

Regardless of being single stack, its still a sub compact pistol.

And $385 is far from pricey.
