Beretta px4 sub-compact or XD9 sub-compact

My experience with the XD subcompact wasn't that spectacular. It was a decent shooter, but I think it looks ugly. The fullsize models look good though. Maybe I'm just crazy though. They have a pretty steady following though.

I haven't shot the beretta but it feels great in my hand. Just hate the slide mounted safety. The magazines have a push down extension so your pinky has somewhere to go, but in a defensive situation you wouldn't have time to employ it. Plus, the extension leaves a small gap to pinch your finger when its pushed down. Neat idea though.

Out of the two though, I'd decide on which I could shoot better. Striker fired or DA/SA. I think DA/SA is more fun, but I shoot striker fired better. So I'd probably go with the XD.

If I were you, I'd also look at the PX4 compact. For me, it feels way better in my hand than the sub-compact, and is just marginally bigger. Plus, you get the rotating barrel in the compact, which makes it a real nice shooter.

I haven't shot the XD9 but I have the full size and sub compact PX4 and have shot them a lot.
Excellent guns, reliable and very accurate.

I liked the full size so much I bought the sub compact, although I'm not interested in carrying the gun because (for me) it's too bulky.

A number of people have shot and liked the guns.

I own a XD9sc, PX4sc, and PX4c

They are all superb guns. No difference in reliability or accuracy. I prefer the PX4 compact as it fits my hand better. That said, I suggest you also consider the XDm compact and pick the one that best fits your hand. You will not go wrong with any of the guns.

The Beretta PX4 sc looks real good, but I still prefer the xd sc. I just think I'm more accurate and consistent with the striker fired.

With my DA/SA guns I'm still low and to the right, despite a lot of practice. Whereas with the striker fired I'm dead on accurate.

I also think the xd type grip safety is more convenient, especially in the sub compact size.
