I have a 4 3/4" Beretta Stampede in 45 LC. The gun screws are backing out under recoil. The first one I noticed was the screw that holds the ejector rod assembly on the barrel. All the other screws were backing out as well. Anyone out there experience this and can provide a cure.

Take Care

loose screws - Yikes!

Get a proper hollow-ground screwdriver that fits the slots exactly and then take each problem screw out and put a drop of loctite on the threads, reinstall and that's it. Loctite comes in various strengths denoted by the number and color...I use the blue stuff don't remember the number - I think it's 243 or 222.:D

Single action armys have been kicking their screws loose since 1873.
Loctite is the modern cure. Oldtimers used a dab of raw linseed oil. Colt puts a thin nylon washer under each screwhead, but that is not real effective and they are soon shredded when the screw loosens anyhow and is retightened.

?

wow your lucky thats all thats wrong with your stampede, i have gone thru two of them and beretta cant get them to shoot straight?
the gents above got it right, clean all the areas to be locktited and you should be ok

Thanks guys for the replies, I'll get some locktite in blue at Canadian Tire. Thought that might be the cure but wanted to check first.

Sorry to hear about your problems with your Stampedes. Mine shoots bang on POA when I do my part. Next .45LC will be a Ruger Blackhawk though as I want the 5 1/2" barrel and adjustable sights. I know once they are set they seldom have to be moved but much easier to adjust - adjustables - than fight with fixed sights if they are off. Particularily true with the SAA's.

Doesn't take to long to figure out why the US Army switched to the 1911 after their problems with revolvers (Calibers & Breakage). I can't imagine having to reload a SAA under fire when you had more than a heard of Indians on your doorstep. I suspect Custer should have done a head count before he went on his little ride into infammy.

Regards and thanks again.
