ok i've come to the conclusion that i really like the beretta pocket guns and wanna have one for the pocket when i dont wanna lug something bigger,so ive scratched the .25 out(still might consider a 950bs) and im thinking about a .32 tomcat, what is everyones opinion on this?

+1. With the popularity that the .380 has gained through the offerings in that caliber from Kel-Tec and now Ruger with the LCP, it amazes me that we have not already seen a .380 Tomcat. My .32 Tomcat was a great little gun, but I would LOVE to see one in .380.

Had one and the frame cracked running silver tips through it. Beretta replaced it and sold the replacement with out even shooting the new one.

The Beretta Tomcats Have a few issues. I had one, didn't really like it, it didn't seem to handle well. Perhaps it was just me, sold it Kept my Kel-Tec. I don't think you will ever see a Tomcat in .380. It would have to be beefed up because the frame couldn't handle it. I've found Beretta reputation is over rated. Decent guns but not the be all to end all. :)

I've heard too many frame crack reports for the Tomcat for my taste. I've had no problems with the bigger brothers, a 92 FS and my 92 F Compact or with my 950. I'd like to try out the Ruger or Kel-Tec to replace my AMT 380.

I came real close to buying a Tomcat about a week ago. I had reservations because of the frame problem. Further research indicated that the Inox ( SS ) version was acceptable and the frames do not crack on those. So if you continue with the Tomcat, I would get the Stainless version only.
In the meantime I discovered the Bersa Thunder in .380. I bought the Concealed Carry model which is smaller than the regular Thunder. The Thunder .380 CC is about an inch longer than the Tomcat, about 3/4 inch higher, about same width and weight as the Inox.
I went with the Bersa because of so many favorable comments on the various forums that I read. The Tomcat still interests me because of the tilting barrel but I went with the Thunder .380 CC.

Don't know about frames cracking, but the k/t or lcp is much thinner in the grip allowing easier concealibility plus they are lighter.

I had two Beretta Tomcats crack in the first 60 rounds. Beretta replaced both. The first one was replaced with another Tomcat and the second one with a 9mm 92FS. If you go with an INOX model you're ok, but stay far away from the blued ones. Also - all this happened with new production Tomcats in late 2007 and mid 2008.

Go out to your local Mall and find the biggest, meanest guy you can. Now walk up to him and just imagine trying to stop him with that tiny little pistol!!! Now run out and buy a "REAL" gun in a "REAL" caliber. 9mm or .38 special at a minimum.....IMHO.
:scrutiny:

You might want to run a search on this site for similar threads; seems to me this has been covered at least a couple of times in the past month alone.

The Tomcat has had its share of problems. I had one that crapped out after 66 rounds; it took weeks and dozens of calls and emails before Beretta's "customer service" department finally sent me a new gun (and yes, I had to pay for the shipping costs to get the original to them). No thanks.

I do have a Jetfire that I like a great deal and carry as a back-up quite often. It sports an anemic .25 caliber, but it works.

It seems like the general consensus has been that the blue ones are no good and the Inox (stainless) ones are fine. My wife has an Inox one with hundreds of rounds through it and no problems to date. I don't like the caliber, but I like the gun. It functions well and shoot very accurately for such a small gun.
