Guess I missed the intro to this. I had a chance to view and handle one at a LGS the other day and I liked it a great deal. Somewhat pricey. Any THR members have one and what's the verdict?

You're not the only one who missed it. Oh well at that price I'll just have to love my 870 Wingmaster that much more.

A Beretta rep told me about this a couple months ago. They have obviously decided to market this gun to people richer than myself. I don't mind spending the money on a hunting gun or something, but for home defense I'm not seeing what this does that a mossberg doesn't.

The Beretta is a tactical version of the Xplor sporrting semi-auto. It's in the same price neighbourhood as the Benelli M4. I haven't seen one yet in my part of the world but it is #1 on my list as a potential replacement for my 870. Beretta is leading the world in gas-operated semi-autos and it's a good thing they've seen the light and introduced a home defense model.

I worked with one.
Kinda liked it, as much as I like any semi-auto.
Nice & light, good ergonomics for me, good sights, well-made, etc.
Reliable through most mid to heavy loads, I didn't try light target stuff.
Were I not so heavily invested in too many years with the 870, I would probably have kept it.

Expensive, but not a bad gun.
