2016 was a good year for Beretta and we owners who have them. The Wilson Combat Beretta Brigadier Tactical 92G is the pinnacle of that series development. Followed by my favorite the Wilson Combat Compact Carry version that for some reason dropped from production. Not to be outdone Beretta finally released the Earnest Langdon inspired PX4 Compact carry which I consider the finest PX4 yet and perfect for concealed carry. Now coming soon in 2017 is Berettas new striker fired masterpiece the APX. And later this year Beretta is teaming up once again with Earnest Langdon with another series 92 variant. 2017 is going to be interesting for those of us have a fondness for Berettas. I've owned and carried my Walther PPS M2 for about a year in a leather IWB holster and have had quite the opposite results as you, the finish has held up remarkably. My Shield that I still own but don't carry as much any more had rust spots on all contact areas in a leather/kydex holster. So far my Walther's finish (no shiney spots or rust) has been loads better than the Shield, but the Shield was carried for about 1-1/2 years longer, so I will wait and see of the Walthers prolonged finish.

Welcome to the fourm mburgos21.

Just so you know, posting in all caps is considered yelling and thus rude. Notice how no one else does it? If you having sight issues, I suggest you increasing the size of the text on the screen.

I guess you couldn't see that you were posting about a Walther on a Beretta thread either. :) Anyway, welcome to the forum, and hope the eye doc can help you out.

OP, nice guns. I've always been impressed by the beauty and workmanship of Beretta, unfortunately, most of their larger frame guns are too big of a trigger reach for me. I have a couple mouse guns though, a 21A in .22 LR and a 950 BS in .25 Auto.

I am a huge Beretta fan but the APX looks like it fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down.

Agreed. I've always liked Beretta, but they need to fire their current design staff and get back to making sexy guns. Starting with the PX4, their pistols have been getting progressively uglier. It's like they're trying to go head to head with Ruger, Glock and HK in some unnannounced contest to see who can make the most hideous thing that will still sell. The start-up company Hudson seems to be vying for to place in this competition as well.

I'm also a Beretta fan and I tend to agree: the APX looks like the designers were hung up on ridges and felt the need to incorporate them on every part of the gun.

Yeah, not an APX fan.

However, my Wilson 92 Brig Tac I am a fan of, and it's a real joy to shoot. I got the factory tuned trigger and it is the finest trigger on any of my guns.

For some reason I do like the PX4, but the profile makes me think of a turtle shell.

mag318 , nice looking Beretta's . I doubt Beretta thinks 2016 was a good year after losing the US military contract . It might be a good time for the civilian market and get Beretta into more designs and out of the box , so too say .

Hopefully I'll have my APX next week and if I do I'll post some photos along with my thoughts on it. Beretta has produced some real dogs like the Nano and Pico but I think the APX will be a winner. With all the good striker fired, polymer framed pistols now available the competition is stiff. I just glad to see Beretta along with CZ getting into that segment of the market.

I've owned a 8040, 8045, and a PX4 .40, I liked the designs on both and I've been considering a PX4 .45. I do agree that an entry into the striker fired market seems redundant, but it makes sense for Beretta considering the Sig M17.

Seriously. Did Beretta hire a Highpoint engineer lately? If looks could tell. I think so.

Safety/decocker on the slide, or DA/SA operation = no sale for me. YMMV

The APX doesn't really look any "uglier" to me than the Walther PPX or Creed, which looks like the evil spawn of Glock and HiPoint :)
Although those slide "serrations" are most of the problem to me, I'm sure holster makers will really love them, not!

OTOH how it looks matters not a hoot to me if it fits me and I shoot it well. Definitely something I'd need considerable trigger time with before considering buying it.

"best pistols yet" nope, Beretta made those some time ago. The Wilson version look nice but they are still a DA/SA and slide mounted safety/decocker.

Definitely didn't know the APX was a modular pistol like the 320 but with backstraps too.
interesting that they still lost the DOD contract...

EXCUSE MY CAPITAL LETTERS IT'S A CAN'T SEE MUCH RIGHT NOW....

Here's a little tip to help with that: In any web browser, you can hold down CONTROL and then hit the + or - to increase or decrease the text size. You can do this more than once, up to a maximum of 300% larger. Works wonders for reading something when you don't have your glasses handy for some reason. If you hold CONTROL and 0, it will reset the zoom to 100%.
