I am new on the Al 391 and I am trying to remove the cocking handle. I instructions say remove and it just will not come out. Is it one of thoughs that you just need to yank harder or is there a trick to this problem?:banghead:
First question is whether you have the action closed when you are trying this? It's easier when the action is closed.
Place your thumb on top of the charging handle with the tip of your thumb pressed against the breech block and your index finger curled underneath the handle. Pinch the handle between your thumb and forefinger and pull the handle straight out. Try using a pair of gloves to get a better grip if necessary. It should come out without much effort but they can be a bit stiff on a new gun.
Its a bit stiff the first few times but if you can't get it out like mentioned above....take a piece of twine and tie it around the bolt handle. Wrap the other end of the twine around a gloved hand and give it a good yank. It should pop right out.
If that doesnt' work, use a pair of pliers with soft jaws and yank on it a few times.
