Hi everyone, this my first post.

I bought some Berry DEWC's & I'm looking for an accurate load. I loaded a few with loads that worked well with Rainier DEWC's & wasn't impressed with my results. I tried 2.9 gr Bullseye, 3.1 gr W231, and 2.8gr Red Dot. The Bullseye load shot the best, but not that great. I'm seating the bullets flush & using a light roll crimp.

Do I need to work up hotter loads? Does anyone have a pet load for these?

Thanks for any replies.:)

I haven't tried the DEWC.
But I have been loading the Berry HBWC over either 3.0 Bullseye or Red Dot in .38 Spl cases with good accuracy.

Seat out 1/8" so part of the bullet can enter & align itself with the chamber throats.

I shoot Berry's DEWC in .38 spl and .357 mag and also seat them out about 3/16" of the case.
I use a very light profile crimp.

They seem to like a little more velocity than lead wadcutters.

"...hotter loads?..." Hi. Nope. Lose the crimp. DEWC's don't need it and it's detrimental to accuracy.
You should work up the load again too.

I have trouble getting wadcutters to seat in the mouth of the cartridge. What's the trick to that?

Something like this. I am using a very light taper crimp. They did not like a light roll crimp over the front edge.

I dunno. Haven't had a problem. Has to be a belling issue though.

3.5 Grs of Competition shoots very well. If loading them in .357 brass use 3.6 Grs of Competition.

3.3 Grs N310 in .38 Spl brass shoots very well.

I load mine to look like Walkalongs. In 357 cases I've found 6gr of Unique to be an accurate load in my 4" 19-3. I use an ever so slight roll crimp.

If these are copper plated DEWC's I would work the load up a little, more friction with the copper plating.
I do agree with seating them out .125".

Hmmm. It seems everyone agrees they should not be seated flush. I had emailed Berry's before I started and they recommended seating them flush. I guess I'll have to try extending them out.

Thanks guys.
