I'd like to know if anyone can tell me what the FPS would be for this load (.45 ACP)...and perhaps what the CUP would be? I'd LIKE to use this load in a Howell's Conversion cylinder in a Pietta Case Hardened 1858 Remington (brand new unfired). I Posted this in the "Handloading and Reloading Forum, but got no response. Thanks, guys...

I am currently loading 230 grain round nose hard cast bullets with 4.7 grains of Unique which is giving 630 Feet/Second.
Factory .45ACP was clocking 775 Feet/Second through a Commander length 1911.

Remember Levi, it's not just the speed of the projectile but its mass. Just 'cause a projectile is only going 40fps (25mph) doesn't mean it won't hurt, especially when the projectile is the size of a truck.

By the way, try shooting a 45 Colt or ACP (smokeless) using your headlights at nite, you really can see it going downrange.

Perhaps the OP posted on the wrong forum? Even though there was a reference to an 1858 Remington the discussion seems to be directed toward that newfangled smokeless powder stuff, which everyone knows is merely a passing fad that will soon fizzle out (pun intended) due to lack of interest.:D
