Just bought a used nickel bersa thunder .380 from a pawnshop for $249 out the door, I think it was a great deal, but it came with a one magazine. Has anyone had experience with the promag magazine for the bersa and if so did it give you any problems? Thanks in advance.

by the way .380 ammo is hard to find in Broward County S. Fla. I drove to West Palm Beach just to get target FMJ's. If anyone knows where I can get some .380 ammo in the South Broward County area please let me know thanks again.

I have not used the promags, but over on bersatalk.com, they are very unpopular.

I am one of many who had problems with that brand (albeit in a different gun). I always encourage folks to purchase mags from the same maker as the gun. One exception to this rule is Mec-Gar, who actually makes many OEM mags. However, they do not show anything on their site for any Bersa.

I have a couple of the ProMag and they work ok, but their springs are much weaker than the factory mags and I only use them for practice.

Watch out for the crappy counterfeit Bersa magazines that have been floating around. Eagle Imports is the US distributor for Bersa and another source for legitimate OE Bersa magazines. :)

As the others have said, get your mags from Eagle (Bersa's importer) itself.. I was able to pick one up for mine last month at a Suncoast Gun Show when it passed through my town, about an hour and a half north of you.
I was getting my .380 ACP ammo from Gander Mountain in Palm Beach Gardens, but I haven't been down there in months. As I understand (and noticed at the gun show), ammo for popular carry guns, namely the .380 ACP, has become quite scarce as more and more US citizens begin to carry. Florida is already backed up by nearly 100,000 in concealed-carry applications, and the popularity of good pistols like the Bersa and the Kel-Tec contribute to the shortage of this round few people gave serious thought to a few years ago..

I bought a bunch of Promags for a Thunder .380 a while back. Two of them flat out broke apart in the first few weeks, so I deep sixed the rest.
