Bersa Finish

I am likely ordering a bersa Thunder .380 in the next week. There seems to be a fair amount of bersa owners here and here is my question to you:

What are your thoughts on the 3 basic finish options?? Blue Matte with nickel accents

What they refer to as Duo Tone

The Satin Nickel

I would be interested in what you chose and what you considered when you made the choice. Are there any real advantage to one over the other?

Thanks for your time. I am still trying to decide what finish and they are so rare here I know I will not get to actually see all 3.

Hi Rocky,

Generally, an electroless nickel finish is more durable than matte/blued, though both will last if you choose your holster with the finish in mind.
Beyond that, it's just personal taste and price.

I went with nickel (or rather, my wife chose it for us)
Many years from now, when the wear demands a re-finishing, I might even have the sucker hard-chromed...

....and in the meantime, plan/dream about having the slide and frame duped in munition stainless.

I have the Duo-Tone model.It has a silver anodized frame and a matt black slide.The black is not a type of blueing but a baked on finish.I have heard some folks say the black scratches easy but I bought mine to be a beater and the finish still looks new after five months of being tossed in a pocket or bouncing around a glove box.

I bought the Duo-Tone simple because that is what my local gun store stocked.If I were to do it again I would get the all black Firestorm version.They are made on the same machinery at the Bersa plant just sold under a different name.The reason is I prefer that model is I like my guns in one color,preferable balck and the Firestorm version has a rounded trigger guard which makes it easier to get a holster and to conceal.

What horge said. It's pretty much a matter of taste/preference. Personally, I like the look of the duo-tone, and kept searching until I found one (for some reason they were scarce for a while around here).

For the price of these things, if many years from now the wear demands refinishing you can get a brand new one!

Of course, if horge does get his hard-chromed we'll all be jealous anyway.

Thanks Guys!! I appreciate the input form you (horge, Cwatson & Chickenhawk) on this subject. I will also be looking at a beater type all around carry pistol. It will not be entered into any shows show I will likely go with what I can get when I am ready...

BERSA 85 Nickel, Double column, polished slide, controls

Satin Nickel w/ some polishing. No need to keep outside oiled.

Hard chrome = only PhP6,500 (including electrostripping of the original finish).
That's only about US$115, so if the economy keeps holding steady here,
I actually might be tempted to just do it.

Horge, thank you for all the info you (and others) have provided. I found one local today, handled it and came home with it. They had the Duotone and also the Deluxe. I picked up the Duo.
