I'm looking for a small PPKish type of .22lr and find that there are pretty good reviews of the Bersa/Firestorm .22. I have some experience with the Walther P22 and am not interested in it. But I'm finding it difficult to locate one anywhere and the stores around here (Memphis) either have never heard of them or can't find a distributor.
My question is if they are still being made and if so what distributor could my local store contact to order one. Also for those of you that have them, what do you think? Pros, cons, likes, dislikes, utility, useability and functionality, etc, etc.

I have one, the barrel has a defect in it and it's very inaccurate.

I had sent it back and had the barrel replaced, but the new one has the same kind of defect in it (not as bad) and it's still inaccurate. I haven't gotten it fixed since I didn't want to spend another 50 bucks on shipping for a 200 dollar gun.

I got the firestorm .22. Recently I got a slabside Ruger MkIII and I haven't looked back. The firestorm just lives in the safe.

Edited to add: I bought the firestorm about a year and 3 months ago.

Looks like lots of firestorm dealers in TN The 22 is sold underFirestorm Still made by Bersa.

I have discovered a distributor for these Firestorm .22's for our region, it's Ellett Bros out of Chapin, SC and these pistols are still being made and distributed.

The previous post is one of the very few bad ones that I've ever seen. I've had one for awhile now and I'm still satisfied. The more I shoot it, the better it gets. Just keep in mind to clean it if you go through a lot of bulk. An example would be if you go through a whole 550 box of Remington bulk. If you don't clean it for the next session you will have problems. Mini Mags work flawlessly through it. Don't look for precision shooting, it's not a Ruger, but it is a fairly accurate plinker thats easy to slip in the back pocket. A lot of good has been said about these at BersaTalk and RimfireCentral.

Ibought one just a month or so ago and love it, I got the 6" barrel model and it seems to be reasonably accurate with most high speed loads. The match loads I tried were hit and miss on cycling the action.

Well my purpose for this pistol is going to be the range plinker, pocket pistol, woods/critter gun and feel this should fit the bill nicely.

I have a couple of the Bersa Model 23, which was the precursor of the current Thunder 22...

I have been very happy with both...

Most of the functioning problems that owners report with small, foreign manufactured .22LR pistols can be laid at the feet of crappy, underpowered .22LR ammunition that is currently being turned out by American manufacturers. Much just doesn't have the umph to cycle the actions of handguns that were designed for 'full power' ammunition.

If you pick a load that really puts a 40gr bullet out at 1200/1250fps out of a rifle length barrel, most of the small .22LR pistols will work quite well with it.

Both of the Bersa 23s and the Astra Constables that I have function flawlessly with the right ammo. And all are quite accurate, too...
