I have a bersa model 383--appears to nhave never been fired.

the butt plate on the magazine is broken. can anyone tell me where i might buy a replacement??? will the single stack magazines for the newer models work in this pistol???

thank in advance for any help.

Not sure if newer mags will work. I bought a Bersa mag from a surplus store thinking it would work in my buddies Thunder and it did not. I think the mag I bought was actually for your model Bersa. I still have the mag in my safe somewhere, I think the butt plate was curved.

patkane -try academy sports if you have one in your area, they carry a few pro mag magazines-saw some that said bersa 383 on the package, may work in your pistol-these have the plastic finger rest

383

The various Bersa versions are not all compatible, magazine-wise. I've been through that. I don't remeber all the details however. As I recall I bought a magazine for a 383 that did not fit a 383DA but did fit the Thunder 380. I may have a 383DA mag kicking around if that is the model you have.

If it is the original 383 single-action with the mag release button in the lower part of the left grip, then mag retention is different than on the 383DA mags (release up by trigger guard). They "can" be interchanged, but not without some modification.
I have the first model 383 (single action), and it was a trick to locate a spare mag for it. I found one on the BERSA forum by asking for one....and at a very reasonable price too.
