Bersa Thunder 9 Ultra Compact - anyone?

I've had one for two years, great gun. It’s reliable, in shooting 500 rds, no FTFs or any other problems. It eats Winchester FMJ and HP that I get at Wally World. It’s a good shooter. easy to aim and find the target. A good friend of mine who has competed in a lot of pistol shooting contests loves his Beras UC 9mm.

I switch off using it for CCW or nightstand gun.

*FIRST POST!!!*

i got one a year ago. i love it. it eats everything, suprisingly light recoil, and have had no malfunctions at all. my usp stovepipes and my 1911 has feeding failures so to have a gun that works 100% for half the price gives me warm fuzzies inside. i use it primarily as my trunk gun. only 2 problems exists that i have with bersa:
1) holster selection sucks
2) finish kinda sucks
but again, for the price i couldn't ask for anything more. i'm probably gonna go for the 45 next.

I have the Bersa 9mm UC and the Bersa .40UC not a single problem with either. the .40 has a little over 2,000 rounds through it (we love to shoot). The 9mm has slightly less, but nary a problem from either.

They're incredibly under appreciated because they're essentially unknown for the most part. Most think of a blowback .380acp when they think of Bersa; I don't believe most realize that Bersa also makes an excellent locked breech in .45acp, .40S&W and 9mm (based off the Walther 88).

I purchased my Bersa UC9 Pro on a lark and was incredibly surprised at the quality and value. Mine has proven to be accurate and reliable with both factory and reloaded fodder. I honestly couldn't be happier with it.

I shot that very pistol this morning actually. A friend wanted me to polish the feed ramp and give it a thorough teardown and cleaning. He has about 300 rounds through it and I added another 20 this morning. Surprisingly good accuracy and the trigger was clean. He had trouble feeding TCFP reloads, but it eats FMJ and Win STHP's all day. I wouldn't feel too bad about carrying it daily with HP's. After the work it went through the TCFP reloads fine.

Don't forget to look at the Glock 26 as well. It's a Glock, what more is there to say. It comes out of the box working and never stops. No break in required tons of holsters and accessories.

Th CZ P-07

is also a nice 9 MM for a little more than $100 more,[ or so ].
It has great reviews. It has a large trigger guard but is great for light and lazer attachmentments if you're in to that " Swat wannabe " scene.

I'm getting the Glock .45 cal. Model 30 SF next. Sorry......9 MM's are just to wimpy for me...

How annoying it must be to ask a question about a specific pistol and have others jump in with their own opinion about a completely unrelate brand. I suppose it's going to happen, nonetheless it's still a pity that it does.

Here, to further stray from your original (specific) question, I present you with this:

I totally agree, get a life guys. OK you like Glock and you like CZ, but he did'nt ask about either of those pistols:confused::rolleyes:.

For the subject that was asked about, I had a UC9 and it was flawless and accurate and light for a 14 round CC. FYI I have also had a Golck 19, and perfered the Bersa more. Great bang foir the buck!!

Have had the Firestorm version Mini-Thunder in 45 ACP for some time,...as in a few years with a few thousand rounds thru it now. Like others have said,..mine has never had a hiccup no matter what I feed it. I have deliberatley mixed ammo to try to get it to malfunction. It just keeps perking along happily. There are plenty of holsters out there for it btw,..just look at anything that fits a Glock 19,..and it will most likely fit the Bersa. I have several GLock 19 holsters,..they all work for the Firestorm. I have had offer's for mine for more than I paid for it,..but I keep it because I like it. YMMV

I was in Argentina in October, and I kept seeing those UC 9s in all sorts of police holsters. FWIW, the country seemed pretty together (despite what its idiot president is trying to do to their economy) in a lot of ways, and I came away feeling a little more impressed with Bersa.

I've had a couple friends recommend the Ultra Compact Thunder 9 to me based on their experience with them - I don't need another gun in that role, so I never followed-up personally, but I wouldn't be averse to trying one out based on these reports and the quality I've observed in the ones I've handled. Seem like potentially a good value - if you decide to buy, I hope you'll favor us with a detailed range report.

I have a Bersa Firestorm Mini 9mm and absolutely love it. No problems and it handles and points well. I think Bersas are an excellent value and one of the best kept secrets in handguns.

I can't wait for the new single stack, polymer, concealed carry models to come out.

Lots of happy owners here We can direct you to custom holsters. or run of mill. Factory mags Give aways. Warranty repair should you need it. 9mm is very low on warranty work. 9mm is fast replacing the 380 thunder in popularity.

I love the ambidextrous nature of the UC 9mm. I'm right handed, but my oldest son is left handed and my youngest is ambidextrous. This gun isn't just a little bit ambidextrous, but 100% that way. All safeties and releases are on both sides of the gun. It is a solidly built model. There are several nations that use it in their police forces, not just Argentina.
It is going to be my next purchase.

FWIW:

I had one, and it was a very, very good 9MM pistol..

Exceptional accuracy, reliable right out of the box.

A trifle too large FOR ME for cc but a lot of gun for the money..

The finish is NOT top quality, but then again you are not paying "top quality" prices either.. Just be aware that the finish appreciates proper care and overall I would recommend the BT9/UC with no further reservation.

Best Wishes,

Jesse
