Like the title says, I can't, for the life of me, find another producer of a product lightweight commander .38 Super aside from Colt's XSE line.

Any help from a 1911 guru?

i think you are right if it is the commander configuration you are looking for. but, there is a way and it would make a nice 2-caliber setup. find a 9mm commander you really like and buy a quality drop-in barrel for it. i did that with a Jarvis Custom barrel in .38 super and couldn't be happier. 9 mil is a lot cheaper to burn up than .38 super. i got my mags from wilson combat and it's done. two guns in one is like having twin girlfriends.--robby

now that i think about it, you could get all your stuff from Fusion Firearms and build your own. too much of a project for you, buy all the parts and i will put it together for you. at least go to Fusion and check out what they have. i've done two and couldn't be happier.--robby

I saw that Kimber had a .38 Super in the Pro length, and it was a matte, frosted stainless too. I just don't recall if it was an alloy frame.

Back in the day, I always felt the .38 Super Commander was the SUPREME marriage of power and shootability.

Robby: Interested in a dedicated .38 Super. I reload (9mil) so the only think i need is some Starline Brass and a new die set.

Doug: The Kimber you have in mind is indeed steel.

Thanks for the responses insofar gents.
