Best 10/22 ammo?

Each rifle can be different, I would try all you can get your hands on. I would shoot a hundred rounds or so to break in the barrel before you start comparing.

I use CCI Mini Mags in my standard 10/22 with sporter barrel and get a ragged hole at 50 yards, and have yet to have a failure of any kind with them. Many have good accuracy with Eli, but I never tried it. When it comes to ammo and which is best, it really depends on each rifle. Buy a bunch of different brands and see which groups best out of your rifle and then buy a bunch of it.

Like the others said, each 10/22 is different and will like different ammo.

I've had good luck with Remington Target 22 (orange plastic box).
Wolf Match is good, so are CCI minimags and standard velocity.
CCI Velocitors usually do well too.

Winchester Dynapoints are usually a good bulk ammo.

Since your Ruger has been re-barreled, odds are the chamber has been cut to minimum specifications.

If that is the case, you may need to use ammo that is designed for minimum tolerances.

You might also want to consider keeping the chamber and bolt face a bit cleaner than you would if it were a woods/forest rifle.

My 22 semi-autos, pistol and rifle, work well with CCI Mini-Mag and CCI Match.

The 39A gets more 22 Short Std Velocity and CB Caps for backyard plinking in a home-made bullet trap.

salty.

I also have a stainless 10/22 T model. It likes Wolf Match Target the best, but I usually go with CCI Mini-mag solids or CCI std. velocity solids for punching paper as they shoot just about as well and are cheaper and easier to find locally. The Federal Champion solid bulk box ammo is pretty decent, as is the Winchester bulk box ammo.

CCI mini mags seem to shoot with the most consistency. I use Remington Golden Bullet Bulk Packs in mine and it works quite well. It hates Federal bulk for some reason.

If your 10/22 is the "Target" model, Ruger plainly states NOT to use the "Stingers" in the true "Target" models, due to the tight chamber dimensions.

Other than that caveat, try all of the .22LR ammo you can find. One, or sometimes even 2 or 3 brands/types will be much more accurate than the rest.

The "best" 22 LR ammunition?! What is your criteria? Cost, accuracy, power on target?

Since your 10/22 is a Target version you can shoot premium ammunition and get very good groups. Your barrel will like one brand and one lot of .22 LR and do fair to piddling with the rest.

When you talk to serious small bore shooters, they are always testing ammunition. When the find a lot that is the most accurate, they will buy about $500.00 of it. The next lot of ammunition by the same company will be different.

Champion's shooter's supply will sell you a ammunition sampler. You buy this crate full of different boxes of .22LR ammo, find the one that works best, and you can buy the identical lot in case sizes. Expect to pay real money though, this is not going to be a $20.00 option.

I purchased a case of Wolff Target after I found out that it was repackaged SK rimfire target. SK is made in Germany in the SK Jagd-und ammunition factory. I shot the stuff in my M52 Winchester and it was pretty accurate stuff.

Standard 10/22's, the chambers are so loose, any cheap brand will do, mine liked Winchester High power and Federal High Power. Got like 1" groups at 25 yards with the rifle. And that is about all it will do.
