Well there have been 27 burgleries/robberies in my part of town in the past month, some at gunpoint. South Minneapolis is starting to get pretty bad apparently. Its time for me to purchase a tac light for my HD gun. What is the best one, in your experiences, in the $100 and below range?. Ive been reading good things about the TLR1 and the Insight M3 and was just wondering if anything is better for the same money? Im leaning towards the TLR1. Also, if anyone has an extra TLR1 used layin around for cheap that they are not using, let me know Thanks

I would NEVER buy something to skimp on $$$ the light is to save your @$$ and I wouldn't compromise on a light because of $$$. I always say "Buy it once buy it right"

A good Surefire costs $60, and goes great sitting on the nightstand next to your pistol. Without training, the handheld light is sometimes better than a weapon mounted one.

Will not mount a light to my handgun. A tac light in the hand is more effective and reduces the chance of drawing down on a loved one by mistake

I got a surefire G2 with the XD gear mount kit for about $40 after tax and it works great for anything but carry. I've been keeping it on the forward rail of my sub-2000 and I'm gonna eventually get a TLR-1 for the XD45.

To answer the question, the TLR-1 for $100.00 or less.

If you can scrape up the extra $25.00, I highly recommend the Insight XTI Procyon! I got mine for $125.00 delivered!

Here's a pic of the light's performance, compared to my SureFire X200B...

Got a 75 lumen coleman tac light from walmart. $17, uses AAA, burns 6 hours on one set of batteries.

Great light, CREE led lamp is more than I thought leds could do, but it works. The light carries really far, unlike last generation leds. It is in the same class as 2d mag lights I have had. been edc since I bought it.

And then you have more money, for... whatever. And you will save on batteries.

Pulease, that means I should spend $8K on a HK 416 over a DPMS AR because my "life is worth it."

There are plenty of lights in the $100 range that is quite suitable for armchair commandos.

My agency is currently testing the Streamlight TLR-1 along with other lights. Not only is it less expensive, so far it is a better light. Some Arizona SWAT/TOT teams have switched over to them and are very happy with them.

I would absolutely recommend the streamlight. Lightweight, durable, long battery life, and less expensive. Unbeatable service as well.
