Hi, I know this is subject that comes up a lot but new stuff is always coming out so I figured I would ask anyways.

What is the best 1911 for the 600$ price range? I could go up a little but not much.

What I really want is a 2k les bauer or a colt but what I will probably have is around 600 to spend. I currently have a llama 1911 and it looks like a 1911, it shoots pretty good with the right ammo, but it is not mil speck, I am ready for the real thing or at least as close as I can get to it,

I am not interested in an exact replica, I want a shooter. I definatly want something with a hammer that wont wack the web of my hand and easy to see sights would be a plus also. I definatly want a full size.

I do not plan on using the gun for HD, competition or ccw. ( Though I think any respectable 1911 is capable, if not ideal, for fulfilling all those roles ) Honesty I just want a 1911 to have a 1911 and enjoy shooting it

Though I would prefer something made iin the usa,I am willing to compromise on that part. I am looking hard at the Taurus PT1911. One local dealer has a new one for 500 and from what i can see from gunbroker and bass pro that is a screamng good deal.

Thanks

I picked up one from Springfield Armory a couple months ago for $550. Mil-spec model. Parkerized with no flair or excessive "shiny" crap on it. Might fit what you're looking for.

For the price range the MetroArms American Classic II, Around 5 to 6 depending on the model. MY ACII 500.00 out the door 5" all the features of a much higher price range. A wonderful 45. A great shooter.
It has almost replaced my kimber as my primary carry.

I got the Springfield Milspec a few years ago and am very happy. (Make sure you don't get it confused with the GI. Most dealers on Gunbroker advertising the Milspec are usually selling the G.I. Model. The G.I. is military specification, but the Milspec has better sights, L&F ejection port, and SS bushing.)

However, if I was starting over, I'd probably lean toward the Ruger SR1911. That looks like an excellent package for the price. Especially in stainless.

My 1st choice was the sti spartan, unfortunatly STI flat out refuses to sell to ca, even to Leo who are allowed to purchase off list firearms. I emailed sti cust service and the rep and he said they have a new ceo who is reconsidering this position but for now it stands

I hate to say it, but good. It's to protest the stupid anti-gun CA govt. I would love to see a company like Glock do that. Maybe CA would listen.

Never shot one, just handled one in the LGS. The Kimber Custom 2 looks like a pretty nice gun for 650.00
Spartan from STI has good feed back from what I read.

save up another $150 and buy the SA RO for $750 best 45acp 1911 out there for the price.

+2 for the Ruger..... I haven't had a chance to shoot one but the nice things the ruger has going for it.

1. Actual sights which the Para GI and Springfield mil spec are lacking
2. It's using a standard GI style guid rod and series 70 fireing system so just plain and simple.
3. It's stainless steel which is going to be very corrosion resistant.

All of these In my opinion make it one of the best bang's for the buck.

If the ruger was offered in a "blued" or "parked" model I would have probably went that route. However I am not much of a fan of ss guns.

How many people who are voting Ruger have actually shot one?

Spartan from STI is a proven winner and an upgrade from the RIA. I would also consider the RIA Tactical for less spend the rest on ammo. Also consider a used Colt if you know what to look for.

The SA loaded would be the next inline.
