I wonder if anyone has a RIA MATCH and a STI Spartan I would like to see a side by side comparison of both and which one would come out on top.

IHMO they are about the same in terms of fit and finish but the STI uses better parts. IIRC on the RIA match you get front strap checkering but no front slide serrations.

Spartan uses a lot of STI parts.

STI Single sided thumb safety
STI High-rise beavertail grip safety.
STI Match grade fitted bushing.
STI square hammer
STI trigger system
STI sear and disconnector

Um I own a Ruger it shoots great . maybe we can put this question in another form , how many people that are dissing the Ruger have actually shot one?

have a smith e series got it for about 750 and its awseome but i also hear good things about the sti and would not hesitate on the ruger. Ruger builds some fine firearms, i love my gp100 and would never get rid of her.

So that make 2 out of 6 who have actually seen a Ruger who are recommending it. One of them admits he has never shot one.

I have seen one at the shop and field stripped it. It was a decent looking cast gun. There were clearly casting marks on the gun. For the money it looks like a decent choice but with less than 6 months and not a lot of guns in the market and none I have heard of getting heavy use like 1000 rounds in a day I am not sure how people who have never seen one let alone shot one can recommend them.

I have not shot one but at least I have put my hands on one.

What are all the fitted parts on the STI?

None are truly "fitting" like all production guns they are "assembled". IMHO the quality of the original parts put the STI over the RIA.

I have been fighting myself daily to not buy the Ruger 1911. Everytime I see a pic of one, I have gun lust. Not sure why. Big Ruger fan, I guess, except for (gasp, blasphemy) the 10-22, that comes from childhood issues.

I'm pretty sure RIA says that there match is handfitted....

You do know that RIA does not make any pistols. They are the name that Armscor puts on one of the guns they produce in the Philippines. The STI guns are made in the same factory using the best of their smiths.

The concept of a Hand fitted RIA is a joke. They are hand assembled they are not "fitted". The claim that they are "fitted in the custom shop at Armscor". LOL  This is the same marketing BS that Kimber uses when it claims to have a custom shop.

Guess you assembles the STIs? The custom shop at Armscor. Again the quality of the components in the STI are a known quantity while the RIAs are all knock-offs. This does not mean the RIA is not a bad pistol but when The RIA match is a $650 and the STI is $628 I would go STI all day long.

I will tell you right now STI's pistols will walk all over alot of the bigger named 1911's. I own several models including the Spartan and i will promise you for the money it is the best 1911 on the market in that price range and it will perform just as good as your Kimbers, Springers, Colts and such. And STI's customer service is some of the best i've ever had to deal with.
